    A DLR BAND album?
    or
    A New Van Hagar album?
    or
A New Van Halen album with a 4th singer?

    Option 2, naturally.

A new DLR Band album suffers from the same thing the previous one did - lack of name recognition, lack of major label support, and lack of interest in the material by the artist himself.

A 4th singer brings with it the stigma that 3 had. There is no reason to expect it to do well at all.

While the vocal Roth contingent would be highly unhappy with a Sam reunion, it's the only one of the options that is a true incarnation of Van Halen with a previously established fan base to draw on.

A new Van Hagar album would outsell the other 2 combined x 10. But a new VH/DLR album would outsell all 3!

As much as I'd love to see a David Lee Roth album outsell Van Halen with another singer, I don't see that happening (especially if it's under the aegis of "DLR Band") unless he were to get some all-star guitarists to play with him (which could be cool). As long as the album says "Van Halen" on the cover there's still a core group of fans that will buy it no matter what, and certainly if Mr. Hagar or especially if Dave was to sing on it, but since a true Van Halen album wasn't one of the options, then I have to go with the so-called "Van Hagar" option.

Van Hagar would definately outsell the other 2. DLR Band didn't even go silver, and VH3 was a flop.

A new VH album with Sammy would definitely outsell the other two. DLR Band hasn't released anything since '98, and it only sold about 100,000 copies, and I bet a new VH album with a 4th singer would do worse than VH3.

A new Spammy album would probably sell in the vicinity of 2 million copies. Not that I would buy it, but all the Van Hagar fans would, and there's still a good amount of them around. A new DLR Band album, if it's still on an indie label, would probably sell about 100,000 copies again, bought by the same people who bought the last album. I'd probably buy it though. A VH album with a 4th singer would probably sell 200,000. Only die-hard sheep would buy that piece of crap.

Please, he would be there the day it went on sale.
He is just another Dave junkie, but if they put out a new album without Dave, he will buy it and listen to it for over and over again.

    1. Van Hagar

    2. Van Halen 4

    3. DLR

I reserve the right to change, depending on the fourth singer. For instance, it couldn't happen, but what do you think it would sell if, say, Chris Cornell (spelling?) took over? We're all assuming, probably correctly, that #4 would be a no name (Molloy) or a has been (Coverdale), but in the world of VH, who knows. What about if Mikey sings, and it's good?
