I'll give "The Dream Is Over" a listen for the similarities.
And as far as the "Jump" and "Top Of The World" goes your listening to the wrong part of "Jump".
It's the riff at the end of "Jump" that starts off TOTW. C'mon you can't hear it? It's soooo obvious!

Red-Balled Mammoth, I hear ya! It's not exactly the same at all, but there's a definite similarity.
And Crossing Over sounds like Love Walks In, too.
As for the Jump/Top Of The World thing, think the end of Jump where you hear Eddie come in again with a little guitar part over the top of everything else. If you single out that part, it sounds kinda like the intro to Top Of The World. Try listening to them back to back...

Top of the World is played like on the two small strings so it has that real bright sound to it.
I think the outro to Jump is pretty much the same notes, but played on the "thicker strings" I hope this makes sense.
And yes, I play the guitar and this is the best that I can explain it!!!!!! Now if you need explanation on a Green Day tune,....no problem!!!!!

They do sound alike, b/c Top of the World and Jump were written at the same time by Eddie when he was writing 1984. The guitar riff--outro for Jump is the same as for TOTW

I think Lead Synth thought of this one too, and I agree...

Hey Guys and Gals. I usually post over in main but thought I'd add my two cents about the "Jump"/"TOTW" similarities. In addition to being used in "Jamies Cryin'" look at old boots of "Dance The Night Away" espescially during the 79 Tour lots of that riff used in lots of different songs, very universal and appliable to all sorts of stuff and fun to play!
Peace

You can really hear the "Jump/TOTW" similarities when Eddie does the outro riff of "Jump," live and plays it on the higher strings. It's near identical to what he does on TOTW, just mutes the strings more than on "Jump."
