Hey, does anybody know of a track called SLEEPLESS NIGHTS? I downloaded an MP3 a while ago, and it claims to be a recording done in 1996 in 5150 with Gregg Stafford on vocals. The quality isn't amazing, but it definitely sounds like VH. This would make sense as they were trying out other vocalists besides Cherone. Does anybody have any first-hand knowledge if this is real or not? Or does anybody else have the track?

I've never heard of it. It might be Dokken's "Sleepless Nights" labeled as Van Halen, though.

It's on that set, at the start. If you go to the bottom there's a link for the notes to all four discs. Says in there it isn't really VH; in fact I seem to recall the Inside magazine (when they were official) asking the band about these songs and the band confirmed that they aren't VH tunes.

Thanks.
Two things: this boot came was put together in early 1996, so this can't be a summer 1996 recording. Second, I just listened to it again. Unless I'm not mistaken, that's NOT Eddie. He's doing some licks and fills that Eddie simply never does. Furthermore, the guitar tone isn't really his (especially for the 1990's). Oh well. Another one to send to the Recycling Bin."I had a girl beating on my hotel door all night...She was screaming, crying. Finally, I said, 'What the hell'...and I let her out!"- DLR

It's not Van Halen.

"Greg Stafford" does not exist - unless he was the singer in Lynch's band. In any event, there were no singers in Mammoth/Van HALEN before David Lee Roth.

Welcome back, Van HALEN!!!!
...It's the BAND and Dave is really the cat that can front VH. He sang his ASS off and was really cool. No cheese here guys, this is filet Mignon! - Steve Lukather's comment after witnessing a Van HALEN 2007 rehearsal

I think it's different if you're alone, then u get it, u manage it. But if I get it, most probably all 5 of us in this house get it. And it's a real pain in the ass to manage when all the kids are...
