I dunno....I would call it a ballad. And that's no putdown on my part of the song... I think it fits the ballad criteria:

It's a song involving love and a woman....and it is a slower temp and has a sweetness about it. It certainly isn't Hard Rocking....

I'd say Dance The Night Away is a ballad folks!


And again that's not a put down of the tune.....It may not fit the "Ballad Sound" that was so popular in the 1980's "HairBand" era....BUT nevertheless, I'd call it a ballad.
