I've only ever heard one of Sammy's albums in its entirety, so I'm in no position to judge, but since we have this thread for Dave, fair's fair to have it for Sammy, too!

I haven't heard all of Sammy's solo albums. But what I've heard, Marching to Mars is probably the worst.

I like all of Sammy's solo work but Red Voodoo is my least favorite album.

Take your pick of his post-Montrose, pre-Standing Hampton work. It's all got varying degrees of suckage.

I'm gonna go with Red Voodoo. It's pretty damn shitty after Mas Tequila.

I'd concur with the statements about his post-Montrose albums. They just lacked something to me. It seemed to kind of be the same album, over and over. Now, he DID have some good tunes come off those cd's (ie: Love or Money, This Planet's On Fire, Turn Up The Music, Rock & Roll Weekend, Red, Plain Jane) but overall, he needed some direction on those. I think by the time 3 Lock Box came out, he was starting to come into his own.
By the way, I think the Sammy Hagar G Hits that Capitol released with all his early stuff is fairly decent. I'd give it about a 7 out of 10...I liked Unboxed a LOT better! "Once the final BAN has been completed I will ban myself." -OLO, March 21, 2002

I'd say his first solo effort after Montrose: "Nine On A 10 Scale" is the weakest. Lot of bad songs on there.
I own in, but i rarely play it.
On the flip side, his best solo effort I feel is a toss up between: "Sammy Hagar" (the Red Album) and "10/13""Sorry about the mess..."<br /><br />~Han Solo Episode IV

Sammy has took a nose dive in my opinion. Starting with Red Voodoo, and his worst album by far is 1013! His voice sounds totally shot. On Ten 13, He's sounds like he straining on every word. I believe his age has caught up with him finally. I've seen footage of concerts recently and he can not hit the notes very well anymore. People talk about Dave not hitting the notes anymore, well Sammy is in the same boat. His best solo efforts, Standing Hampton, VOA, I Never Said Goodbye(87' with Eddie).

10-13 sounds great to me. It and MtM are great albums. I saw Sammy last November, and his voice is the same as always: great.

Ten 13?!? I think that's Sammy's best work since I Never Said Goodbye. I saw him live on the Ten 13 tour and I think his voice is fine. Sure, he doesn't sing Dreams anymore, but he can still hit the high notes in other songs.

Aside from Mas Tequila & Right On Right, nothing else was too good on Red Voodoo.
Pre-1981, Sammy did have some "far-out" songs didn't he?
Well, I'm sure we've all done things that we're not proud of, right?
