What's up with this bonus track shit for other countries? What's so special about Japan? Why not just have the same release for all countries? Add You Really Got Me to that and give it to everyone else.

I think the thing with Japanese releases is that imports are dirt cheap there, so they include a bonus track to make the local version a more attractive purchace. Least thats what someone here said a while back. Makes sense to me.

I know what you're saying Goo, but if they don't add extras to the remasters, I personally don't think they should add extras to the imports. To me that doesn't make sense.

Personally I think the idea of bonus tracks is bogus. I want the CD I buy here in America to be the same CD Goo buys down in Australia and the same CD Eddie_Italian (where'd he go, anyway) buys in Italy and the same CD AtomicPunkDLR buys over in Germany - and hopefully the same price, too! I'm sick of having to buy import singles to get tracks someone else got on their copy of the album (or tracks that weren't on the album to begin with, but that's another gripe).

The reason they put BONUS tracks on (mainly Japanese)releases is to stop the manufacture of pirate copies which tends to flourish in the asian markets.
But lets face it, since when has Van Halen really done a lot of releasing of "unavailable" tracks other than "Crossing Over" which was on a single release anyway. [img]smilies/rolleyes.gif[/img]
