I wondered on another post what if any specialities there was on VH's Video Hits DVD. Unfortunately, the replies suggested not much other than the "Without You" video.

With a DLR reunion all but dead in the water, I think it would be a nice gesture on the part of Ed, Al, Mike and yes, Dave to give the fans "a lovely departing gift" special DVD encompassing the original lineup.

It has me wondering????...with all the wonderful features that DVD offers, what sorts of things would you guys (& gals) like to see on there.

Off the top of my head, here's some shit I'd like to see:

    - More "Fair Warning" concert footage like the rarely seen "Unchained" and "Hear 'Bout It Later" videos

    -Backstage antics

    -Studio outtakes

-Making of/commentary of band's videos, album covers etc,

-Hi Res pics & specs of Ed's guitars

-Hell! even a few on camera fist-fights between band members (LOL!)

-Perhaps, those alledged songs that DLR and the band did a year and half ago as a bonus

I'd like to seee Eddie's solo from that show (if they taped it).

I love to see a mini-tour of 5150 studios. Give us a visual reference when we know they're "hard at work in the studio". I think we'd all love a MTV crib special on any of the members.

    Two words -- Oakland 1981

Give me a DVD and live album (and not that shit that Andy Johns overproduced and overdubbed) of the Oakland show that was the source of VH's early MTV videos.

I would say either the '81 Oakland Concert or the '79 Concert that three songs were used for Don Kirshner's show. Either one would give me wood.

Or, the US Festival. Sure, we've all seen the copied video and Dave was completely drunk and it was not a very "clean" show...it is a classic and is probably the most talked about VH performance.

Hell, I would even go for Live Without a Net on DVD. I just want something new to buy.

I'll take anything. A DVD of the entire 81 Oakland show would rule. Also a compilation DVD of rare interviews, a tour of 5150, foootage of VH on the road, and other cool features that make you feel closer to the band would be the ultimate VH release.

The entire video has the members of the band being called by phone so they can rescue her. Anthony is dressed like Gingus Khan, Alex as a bushman, Eddie as a cowboy and Roth as Napoleon. By the end of the video they all show up -- Roth in a limo -- and the tied-up woman's wig is pulled off to expose that she is indeed a he. Then there is a shot of Roth, in Napoleon garb, lipstick and rouge, insinuating that he is the pretty woman. I'm guessing they banned it over the cross dressing and gender bending.

I just saw it on VH1 Classic last week. Watch for it.

Certainly a tour of the 5150 studio would be in order. Interview session at the studio, a few miscellaneous studio jams maybe.

Of course the rare 81' Oakland show, and the Kirschner 79' show.

Maybe throw in the US Festival lil' movie they made, that was played on the big screen before the boys came on stage.

Maybe in the middle of the interview, Dave can stop by to say Hello, then maybe a little later Sammy could come by....

Sounds like a fist fight to me !

that sounds awesome. definitely the 81 concert.
i'm thinking though, that the only people who would buy this are the die hard fans. i mean, before panama, jump, and hot for teacher were written, the average fan probably wouldn't want to see a concert that early.
sure, i'd have wood every time i watched it, as would all of you, but frankly in this day and age, i don't know how well it would sell.

a tour of 5150 and interviews would be amazing.

This is an interesting topic that's fallen off the front page. Let's see if it's got some legs left in it. I'm going to send it to the Videos forum.

Personally, I think VH needs to celebrate their initial line-up with a complete concert video. I would much prefer to see a complete show as opposed to a bunch of stuff from all over the place.

Seems to me that the Fair Warning tour was the height of the VH MUSIC machine, while 1984 was the height of the VH SHOW. Therefore, my choice would be a show from one (or both, yeah right) of those tours.

Uh, wasn't this about the same time that MTV was playing Boy George videos every 5 minutes?? </font>
Nah, Boy George was probably about two more years down the line. The "Pretty Woman" thing was during the 1st year of MTV. Another irony was that the only black face on the station at the time was J.J. Jackson. No black artists' videos, because they weren't considered "Rock and Roll". Big controversy at the time. Then Michael Jackson was the first to break the color barrier. And now twenty years later, Michael's white. And there's mostly rap videos with black artists. Go figure.
Back to the VH thing, something from the 1980 tour would be something to see. My imagination went wild after hearing the Largo '80 boot where Dave tells the crowd that the show is being filmed. I know there are a few of us television/broadcast types who have been on this board. We'd gladly help go through the old stuff and put it together........
