IMO, is "Angel Eyes".
You have your "Voodoo Queen", "Bullet Head", "Let's Get Rockin'", "Don't Leave Me Alone", et al. But I just love the simplicity of this song. It's just Dave, Ed and Mike. It'd be nice to hear this polished up and released someday, provided Dave is in this for the long haul.

Angel Eyes IS a great tune. I have it on a CD-R I burned from Napster. I like the fact that it is such a departure in sound.
But I still maintain my stance:
The best unreleased Van Halen song is "Big Trouble"

We Die Young, kick ass tune. Angel Eyes is good, too.

Crossing Over. It's a real heavy, dark song. Alex really shines on this one.

Wow, that's a hard question. There's no doubt that Angel Eyes is a beautiful song, and so different than anything Van Halen has ever done. It would definitely deserve a mention on any unreleased favorites list.
Others that I think are great are Big Trouble, We Die Bold, Babe Don't Leave Me Alone, and TWILY.
Sorry, I can't narrow it down to just one.

Is "Angel Eyes" a Roth, Hagar or Cherone tune? I'm assuming it's not Roth.

Big Trouble definitely. It deserved to be on an album and it still puzzles me why it wasn't.

It's especially surprising that Big Trouble wasn't on an album because it was said to be recorded again during the Diver Down sessions. Being the DD was done in such a rush, and that they were turning to cover material, you'd think they would have chosen a previously written song of such strong quality. Obviously if they were recording it again in 1981-2, they still believed it was a strong song.

In addition to most things said here, I really like the original lyrics to the song that became Hang 'Em High (originally "Where Were You" or something like that, right?)

I agree Glenn. Seems like "Dancing In The Streets" should have been left off DD and replaced with "Big Trouble"
Aside from the cool intro (that Ed wanted to use in an ORIGINAL song) I have never been fond of their version of "Dancing In The Streets"......
But it could have something to do with the fact that I never muched cared for the original much either
