Has anyone ever heard Sammy discuss what influenced him to write Salvation On Sand Hill?
I'm watching an A & E show called City Confidential and the backdrop of the story is about a preacher in Sand Mountain, Alabama who (along with his congregation) took up rattlesnakes as part of his services. A reporter from New York went there to do a story and wound up writing a book on what he experienced called Salvation On Sand Mountain; here's the Amazon link to the book. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...698893-9626918
By both concept and title, Sammy's song seems closely based on this situation, I'm just wondering if he's ever spoken about it.
