I dont usually hear this one get much mention from people, BUT, it is definately one of my favorite of Ed's instrumentals.

Agreed. I actually listen to it quite a lot myself. And let's not forget that this instrumental is not just Ed, but Al and Mikey as well. Maybe that is why I love this instrumental so much--->That it is a whole band effort (minus Sammy)...and not jsut Eddie by himself.
not that I dislike Eddie's solos, but I think ti was nice to see a full band instrumental.

I didn't like this song for the longest time. Now I think it's awesome. I'm not sure why they complain that Sammy didn't/couldn't/wouldn't write lyrics for it, because it works really cool as an instrumental. It's great sonically too, which is true of the whole Balance album.

I think Baluchitherium kicks ass! I would have liked to hear with lyrics, though.

Yeah, Val came up with the name.
Even though we had a thread on this in 101 once, I still don't know how to pronounce this song title. And without looking at the title, I couldn't spell it properly either.

BTW, Greg read in a guitar magazine that the working title for Baluchitherium was "Heavy Groove".

Good heavy song. I wish they would have recorded it with lyrics though.

I always pronounced it
"Bal-uh-cheh-theory-um"
But you know... it took me the longest time to finally hear Sherman in the background. But after I heard it the first time, it always jumps out at me.

I love Philadelphia Freedom. Always reminds me of 1975. The year of KISS, Evel Knievel and the Six Million Dollar Man. That was when Elton had the best lineup: Davey Johnstone, Dee Murray, Nigel...
