As I slowly make the migration to DVD from video, I'm thinking about getting the DVD for Van Halen Video Hits. I think it would be cool to see the band's videos in a higher resolution format. Is there anything different, new or interesting in the DVD version? Does it take advantage of DVD's obvious features; perhaps additional videos or concert footage, interviews or any of other that sets it apart from the video version. Or, should I save my money. Please advise!

I think the only thing that sets it apart is the addition of the "Without You" video. Someone wanna confirm this?

"Without You" is on the dvd. It also has the live video of "Dreams" not the Blue Angel's version(same as vhs?).
Aside from that, nothing "extra" that I know of. I have not heard of any "easter eggs" either. Still cool to see the DLR vid's though.

The nice thing about the dvd, is that when you pause the screen, it is verry clear. A fun thing to do is pause during the messages on the Right Now vidieo. there are things I never caught watching the vidieo at full speed.

I have both DVD's, they were actually the first DVD's I bought. The Live: Right Here, Right Now DVD is not as clear as I would like it to be, but it's a lot better than the VHS version.Your favorite band sucks.

I guess I'm in not too much a hurry to get it now. It's a shame because there is so much history with this band, so many things thing from the Van Halen archives they could have put on there. Even if the reunion doesn't come about I hope the boys can come together and put out a DVD video.

unfortunately, the VH dvds - both the video hits and LRHRN, leave a great deal to be desired.
first of all, they are low grade dvds. they offer nothing better than the videotapes except for a clearer picture, and that's shortchanging the customer at this point.
there's no multi-channel surround mix, AND, what's even worse, there are no extras of any kind, nor is the video collection complete by any means.
why they couldn't spice up these things at all is a mystery to me. there's NO INCENTIVE to buy them other than the fact that they are DVDs.
they could have easily included all the videos VH ever did, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO.
they could have spiced up the audio or at least included the long versions of the videos - not the friggin' MTV/radio edited ones with the short guitar solos.
these dvds are more insulting to the fans than the silence of the band the past few years.-VanEdge

There's no doubt about, this was the kind of thing that Dave flourished at.

I totally agree with Van Edge about the shitty shorter MTV versions. What in the world were they thinking to throw on the awful chopped up versions of Don't Tell Me and Humans Being onto this dvd?? Those edit jobs are down right suck and take away so much from those two songs. There is no real reason they couldn't have thrown on the full length videos. Then again, there is no reason they couldn't have thrown on all their concept videos too. I could see maybe saving the live videos for another release, but every concept video should have been included in my opinion.

I am in the majority here, I have a DVD player, but have no desire to buy the VH DVD.
There are so many possibilities, but the band just does not seem interested in such projects.
Dave would do well to really help the band "spice" up a DVD !!

I've thought about getting a DVD player, but not because of the available Van Halen DVD's.

I would hope that VH takes notice of what Genesis did with their DVD concert release. Only avail. in Europe, but I got it and it takes FULL advantage of DVD features including multiple angles (focus only on Phil Collins drumming) for each song, 5.1 Dolby Digital sound, commentary track...by far the best concert video I have seen. You feel as if you're actually there.

I wish they could've done more with the videos, but it's still better than tape and some videos are better than no videos and that's gotta make it worth having. (Gee, I think I'm becoming accustomed to Van Halen's way of PR thinking - "some news in a Golf Magazine is better than no news"?)If you like what you see here, please click here to donate!

I have a DVD player, but I don't think that the VH DVD's are worth buying since I already have them on VHS.
I find that old concerts aren't really worth buying on DVD. Eg. I bought Queensryche Live Evolution that was recorded last year then I bought QR: Operation Livecrime that was recorded in 1991 and the sound and picture on Livecrime are very inferior to Live Evolution.Right Now you're reading my post!
