It may be just me, but I prefer VH on vinyl. The vibe is so much more pure than CD and for some reason I feel more connected with the music. It may be just me, but plain and simple, vinyl KICKS ASS!!!

I've got most of the VH albums on lp, though I've only picked them up lately, and I haven't had a record player for years. Just nice to have the larger artwork, and you can usually pick them up for a few bucks each.
Going to send this to the Albums forum.

I cant say that I like the sound better, but I do like the larger artwork etc.
I have all 6 original VH albums in my crate of albums.
I need to still get the remasters on CD though. I have WACF, thats all.
79th is old school, and I do love the old vinyl
releases.

i never had it on vinyl but it depends on if you are talking about the remasters or not. CD quality is way better probably.

I grew up with the VH vinyl. I love VH on CD, though, and I think the remastered CDs (they ARE so worth it) sound fantastic.
Some albums were meant to be heard on vinyl, they only sound good in an analog format--I'm trying to think of examples...Hendrix's Ladyland is one...The Stooges' first record...but VH and CD go together perfectly. I think Ed was always trying to push past the limitations of analog sound anyway.
However, "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" sounds sooo amazing on LP. The intro all big and organic and airy. Of course it helps if you have an excellent turntable and speakers. In fact, the entire first record sounds the best on vinyl. FW, however, was totally improved by CD. I agree, though, the LP artwork is so awesome and it loses a lot of power in the shrunken CD format.(pretty smile)

There's something in the recording world called "digital fatigue". Apparently some people contend that because digital basically amounts to a bunch of 1's and 0's and is not magnetically created as regular 2" analogue tape is, we percieve it differently. They cite the fact that some people can't listen to a digital record all the way through. Some people get half way through and hve to turn it off.
Personally I've experienced that before, but I've always atributed it to the shitty music! There is something about natural tape distortion that you just can't get in digital. With digital everything is perfect, whereas with tape, when record a signal hot, the tape naturally compresses the signal, which smooths it out. It kinda takes the harshness out of it, so vinyl junkies may be onto something.
There has been a huge increase in vinyl pressings lately, so I would imagine that if it sticks, this whole idea has some merit.
