I know it's been done before, but I'm bored and plus we have a fair amount of new people here in the Forums and thought I would put this out here....
What's your favorite Van Halen song of them all. Gotta pick just ONE, doesn't have to be the song that "defined" them, or "sold the most records" but rather it has to be your personal favorite Van Halen tune.
Here's mine (though I'm sure it comes as no surprise to those who know me a bit)
'Dirty Movies"
I LOVE this f***in' tune! Right from the beginning drum parts in the intro that dance around, leading into that lightly squealing and moaning guitar work ...all the way through to the great "wolf whistles" Ed makes with his guitar, straight thru to that Funky bass line Mikey sets down, to the extraordinary down and dirty lyrics Dave lays out, it's got it all. Funk, guitar, attitude, a little sleaze, and a hilarious spoken bit towards the very end!
Perhaps not the most driven song they ever wrote, far from being the fastest, certainly not the most angriest, but regardless, this sucker's got attitude and a style all it's own. That's why "Dirty Movies" is my all time Favorite Van Halen song and has been for a long, long time!
I just wish somewhere out in bootleg-world I could find a live version of this sucker, but I dare say they never covered it live. And that's a damn shame.

Whenever "Outta Love Again" is pitted against another track in the Polls section, it always loses. Am I the only one who thinks this song is the freakin JAM? OLA is one twisted, tense little pinhead ditty--the solo is idiotic, totally tweaked, the backing vox are genius ("Didjoo? Didjoo!"), and Dave's hoots & hollers are amongst his best. Actually, his whole delivery on OLA is fantastic--really mad and tight. I dig Alex's gratuitous woodblock attack, too.

Guess I've never been huge on OUTTA LOVE AGAIN, and I love almost every note the original band put to tape.
I'd have to go with UNCHAINED still, but if my answer should be more exciting...let's say DROP DEAD LEGS or ROMEO DELIGHT."I had a girl beating on my hotel door all night...She was screaming, crying. Finally, I said, 'What the hell'...and I let her out!"- DLR

Eddie Van Halen was so innovative and kicked so much ass, and David Lee Roth was for a time indisputably the Greatest Man in America.

And therefore, some would argue because ACDC didn't go keyboards their sound remained timeless. Which ever album had Sink the Pink on it is a standout for me from that era.
