This is my first post. I have spent the better part of the past few years surfing the various VH sites and have recently come to a moment of personal realization. To me, Van Halen is over.
This is not an offical statement from anyone important. I'm just another Joe Nobody sitting in my cubicle in some office trying to get by. This letter is simply my way of expressing that I am no longer interested in being led around in this circle of half-truth's, rumors, and lies. Van Halen was an important part of my youth, but it is time for this rocker to move on.
You could say my dejection started around the time of the Pleasure Dome's closure last year. I'm sure most of you remember the Michael Jackson rumors that got everyone excited about a reunion....(the rumors never panned out). Then we had Dave releasing statements about the "amazing" music he and the boys had recorded. We all got our hopes up again only to end up dissapointed in the end (once again). The lack of a producer, major label, and (most of all) the band's reluctance to acknowledge what fans are left, lead me to beleive they just don't care anymore. And if they don't care, why should I?
Since the closure of the Pleasure Dome, I have witnessed the amount of internet action dwindle down to this small group of DieHard's who, like myself, were not willing to let the past go. We have become so hopelessly devoted to the idea of a reunion that we are willing to twist the slightest fleck of information into whatever rumor we want to hear. Some have said that the band owes us nothing. This is true. But, ya know, I like to call my friends to find out how they are doing and to tell them how I'm doing. (Hi Alex, Hi Ed. How are you?......I'm fine, see ya later)
I listen to VH because it makes sense to me in a very basic way. I don't understand today's music. Why is Korn so angry? Who in the hell is P-Ditty and why are the Backstreet Boys still around? I don't enjoy mosh pits and I can't afford to "bling bling". I like racing my Mustang and listening to loud music.
Well friends, like the band, I'm not getting any younger and I surely am not getting any thinner. It's time to put my VH albums away in the racks right next to my ZZ Top albums. Even if the band does get back together with either (or both) of the singers, it has become anti-climactic. Maybe I'll buy the new album, maybe i won't. But I've just been burned too many times to care.
See y'all at a stoplight.......
Ted S.

Right on, dude.
Van Halen is classic rock and not much else these days. And trust me, I hate admitting this.

Sorry to see you go. Do me a favor? When you are having a bad day, don't forget to take your VH albums out of the rack, put them in your stereo and crank it to 10. Your troubles won't disappear but the frown o n your face will.
I'm just saying, don't forget them because they are not around.

Right on the Money! I drop the top and crank the classics as I drive home from work. It takes the edge off, and better than most other bands out there. If only the guys could remember why they started playing music in the first place... The same reason many of us hold our mini-concerts jamming in the living room when the wife has the kids at soccer practice... To just rock! It makes me sick the band can't get back to the roots. That's why I liked Dave's show so much. No frills, just good tunes. Either way, it's hard to say good bye. I felt the same way when VHND announced he wasn't keeping up with VH anymore becuase there wasn't anything to report... Bummer, but reality. Keep it heavy man.

I hear what your saying TPStang. It's easy to get discouraged when talking about Van Halen these days. Keep the faith bros. and stay in touch.

1988 Mustang GT 5.0L with more modifications than I have time to list. It's street driven and runs the 1/4 mile in 12.30 on the motor and 11.50 on nitrous. On the highway, my baby topps out at 160mph (+-5mph). It's my little money maker.

Wow impressive 1/4 mile numbers on that puppy. I'm too much of a pussy to take my 2001 GT to the track.

Right On... Sorry to say it but it's true. The momentum has gone and so is my patience.
Maybe Ed and Al are still waiting the cows to come home!

Ed is in that rare class of musicians that changed the musical landscape like Jimmy Hendrix. For me it's Jimmy and Ed the greatest guitar players to ever live. Nuno is top 10 imo but to go higher on...
