Hey, I just stumbled upon an unreleased VH song, "Crossing Over", on Napster. I just wanted to know, what album was this going to be on? I'm downloading it right now...seems cool so far.

"Crossing Over" was intended to be included on "Balance". However, it was cut late, but resurfaced as the b-side to "Can't Stop Lovin' You".
The music was originally recorded in 1983 by EVH, who wrote it in response to the suicide of a close friend.
Strangely, Hagar added the lyrics 10+ years later in response to the death of Ed Leffler, Hagar's longtime friend/manager and manager of VH since '86.
All in all, a great tune that should have been included on "Balance", as opposed to "Strung Out" and "Doin' Time".

AWESOME song, they definitely should have released it. Also, get 'That's Why I Love Ya', and unreleased tune from the VH3 sessions, which definitely should have been on that album! There some great unreleased stuff out there.
Crossing Over is probably my favorite of the unreleased though. I love the emotion put into it.

Achievements:
Didn't Sammy want Crossing Over on Balance and for Take Me Back(Deja Vu) to be removed. Personally, I love Take Me Back and am glad it's on there, but Crossing Over should have been on there too.

I'm sure it'll end up on the box set.

according to the official site, it was the first song to feature ed on lead vocals. so, i'm not sure that sammy wrote them, since ed sang them.

sammy definately wrote the words for the song, but as stated previously, the tune was recorded in 1983 during the 1984 sessions. also ed plays all the instruments that you hear and it has that 1984 drum sound going on. i first saw this track as the b-side of can't stop loving you and i couldn't beleive it!!!!!!! van halen releasing a unreleased track on a B-Side.....unheard of. i wish they did it more often.

I love 'Crossing Over', it's my favorite Sam-era tune.....I'm not sure if everybody knows this but it's an interesting fact, on the left channel Eddie's playing drums & on the right, it's Alex.

Crossing over is such a great song. It should have been on Balance. Not just in Japan.

Ted's book was really good. If you don't want to read the non-VH stuff, don't read the non-VH stuff. Monk's book was entertaining. Al's book was short and had an abrupt ending. For a quick...
