Poll: Van Halen III

Might as well start posting somewhere, so I figure why not here, since nobody seems to care about Van Halen 3.

My "favorites" as far as Van Halen 3 songs go are:

1. Without You (actually a pretty good song that I grew to like)
2. Dirty Water Dog (Not half as good as Without You, but a decent song)
3. From Afar (Cherone being a Dave-wannabee, the music is nice)
4. Josephina (overall a half-way decent song)

Those are the only songs I really know enough about to comment on, but really, I did like "Without You". I recently made a 2 cd set called the "Ultimate Van Halen Collection" featuring the 20-so best of the eras. The first cd is primarily Roth, while the second is all Hagar along with "Without You" and "From Afar". I was basically just too cheap to get "Best of".

I don't even listen to these cuts

Sure I'll get blasted, but I don't like a single song on the album. No matter how good the music on a song is I need to like the vocals (except on instrumentals of course) or I won't like the song. The whole album sounds like Extreme to me, and I wasn't very fond of Extreme. The songs seem to ramble without a real structure and sense of when to end the song. For example, "The One I Want", cool guitar riff, but the song doesn't flow, the chorus is God-Awful and it sounds like Extreme.

I remember ALex doing a promotional interview for the album when it came out for a local station in Baltimore, 98 Rock. The DJs were saying how they really didn't like it, and Alex responded that it was his least favorite album but that Gary came in with a whole album of lyrics already written so they wrote the music to the lyrics instead of lyrics to the music as they had always done prior.
