I like most of it but I think it should have opened with AFU then went into Poundcake and so on , also they should have included 5150,Summer Nights,Black n Blue and say an extended jam and get rid of Sammys solo stuff(it belongs on Sammys solo releases) Then were talking a cool live album , just my opinion though

I wish it had less F.U.C.K. songs. Of all the tours to record the album, I think they picked the worst one. Other than that, it's good.

I seem to recall Ed talking about the cover of Won't Get Fooled Again, being recorded in '88, so I'm assuming some of the songs were different tours, where the CD gives one the impression of it being all in Fresno. This has confused me from day one. In the CD case it says something, I believe about it being recorded in two nights, either that or I read it here. Nonetheless, I agree they should have relied less on an album they JUST RELEASED, and focus more on the other albums as well, instead of just popping older ones in every now and again.
My opinion on the album other than that, is it is great, but too "civilized" as Mickey might say. Van Halen could be, even with Sam, off the wall, and should have expressed that in this album. And YES, The Dream Is Over should have been on the CD.. It's a Hell of a song, and was on the video release.
They should have released the live album with Dave instead of Diver Down, but I already know why they did not, it's just a shame.

In comparison to lwan, I thought it was somehow dilluted and I can't really pinpoint why. Ed seems a little more canned to me. Not quite as sharp, or not as much spontenaity, not as much fun. Idunno, I was stoked the first time I watched it but ended up kinda flat. I think I've watched it maybe twice since.

i dig that video!
as far as the cd goes. dreams and won't get fooled again were recorded in 1988 i think. in n out was done during sound check and actually not performed live. they threw in footgae to make it seem like it was part of it.
the LWAN vid and RHRN are totally different
both great in their own ways
then of course there's montreal 1984

That's interesting. I've never heard that any of the songs were from a different tour. I just always thought they were from the two shows in Fresno. I agree that too many songs from F.U.C.K. are included.

If you have the Japanese version w/ the 2 extra tracks on the mini disc, both songs 'Eagles Fly' and 'Mine All Mine' are from the 0U812 tour. I have the video boot of VH in Tokyo for the OU812 tour and they're the same exact versions that are on LRHRN.
LRHRN is a decent CD but the video gets on my nerves, can't stand the different footage mixed together.

Would've been great if Dave was on it, and it was recorded in 1984. Hehe!

The USA '92 boot of that show is better than the official, IMO.

I was blown away by RHRN when I first got it. Didn't like the version of ATBL, but otherwise, I was very into it. Bought the vid a little ways after. Eventually though, I found myself listening only to Eddie, Alex and Mike's solos. I haven't watched the vid in ages... Hagar's tight-pants just don't do anything for me. I traded the CD earlier this year.
Interesting to hear about some of the tunes being recorded at different times though. I didn't know that.
Hope VH put out a better live album sometime."The common thing on governments as an institution is: they're all bad worldwide. It might be the only thing that binds all nations together: the incompetence of their governments. Look at the people who have been president in the US so far... could I DO ANY WORSE?"<br /> <br />~ Frank Zappa

I liked the CD, I haven't seen the video yet though. I'm kind of wondering about the quality of the sound though. Its kinda like maybe the guys were required to release something in '93 but didn't have anything close to finished so a bunch of a live stuff was put together. I don't know. Good CD. Could of done better if it hadn't of relied so much on Carnal Knowledge so much. I thought the live version of Love Walks In blows the 5150 version away though. Maybe its because I prefer piano to any kind of synth unless its JUMP
