2-do you remember when that girl was prom queen ?????
3-How many times have you almost wet your pants when they played "Unchained" in concert...?
4- Push comes to shove--now this is the kinda "power ballad" i wanna here.. mellow, yet cool... not a sissy boy bonjovi "power ballad"--and sure as hell aint "Love comes walkin' in kiddy crap"
5-so this is love?--doesn't get much cooler than this!
somebody say 'fair warning!' Lord strike that poor boy down!
"I had Balance, I've heard Balance, and let me just say that Balance is no Fair Warning!"

It's hard to say something bad about Fair Warning so I won't! Seriously,I wish "One foot... would have been a complete song. The guitar playing is awesome. I mean what is better than "Mean Street" other than sex. This is one of the best VH albums. The only fault is the bass being turned down in "So This Is Love". This is a must have even in a marginal VH fan's cd collection.

Intro to Mean Street... scuze me I must take a cold shower! Dirty Movies, Sinners Swing, Sunday Afternoon In The Park, So This Is Love, One Foot Out The Door, Hear About It Later, Push Comes To Shove, and oh yes, Unchained. You know what, that's the album. The whole thing ROCKS! Hardcore style. " Hey hey hey, one break coming up!"

That's the thing about self improvement. Don't get me wrong I plan to get some soon!

Nahh I wouldn't put Fair Warning as the best Van Halen album. I like it because it was different. But I really don't understand at all how people can say it's the best. It's so damn short. The only VH song that's one of my favorites is Mean Street from that album. What is Unchained about? I mean "change nothing stays the same Unchained" I don't get it. I think the first album is a lot better along with F.U.C.K., 1984, 5150.....

yankee what about DIRTY MOVIES man that was a classic i think fair warning is best because it is just a little darker than the previous 3 i'll agree VH1 is a HELL of a album but u can tell FW that ed was getting just a little more comfy in studio! If i'm not mistaken this was the beginning of the end of the ROTH era & there was a certain edge too it!!!!

For me, it is a toss-up between "Van Halen" and "Fair Warning" as the best VH album. Depends on the mood I'm in. I think a lot of people love this record because it was a definite departure from the first three records, and it just oozes attitude. It was a change, and one done so well. Hell who knows what Dave's singing about half the time, "Unchained" is most likely about being wild, on the loose, strutting your stuff, ideas like that.

...and that's why i love dave,,,,,
"you'll get it,, halfway down the interstate"-MWM
--all those early records were too short
--and that solo at the beginning of Dirty Movies is OFF THE HOOK!!-- when he comes in after his "mice" & whammy bar twirls

Fair Warning is Eddie's guitar masterpiece. The song structures and guitar parts are just killer! Add Dave's attitude and swagger and you've got an awesome VH album.
It is my favorite. It's somewhat dark as well. Short? Well, yes, it's not long. Heck, FUCK was a longer record but that's why it had its share of crappy songs.
Fair Warning is a classic. Balance can not even be compared to this disc.

The only possible bad thing you can say about Fair Warning is that (like all Van Halen albums) it's too goddamn short! Even so, there's a lot more in that 31 minutes than in a lot of albums twice as long

I just get worried that if "hey man that suit is you . . . . . " wasn't in Fair Warning - some people might not like the album as much.
People get very giddy about that part.
Now that I've deflated some of you - lets start over. (ba ha)

Melodic solos in dark songs. Ed shreds and rips through Fair Warning's killer songs revealing his tasteful side. "Unchained" may be one of the best VH songs ever. The solo on "Hear About It Later" still sends a chill up my spine. "Push Comes To Shove" is a masterpiece. It doesn't get any better than this. Plus, 1981 was the year I was born in!

Fair Warning is THE Van Halen album. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, compares to it, except maybe another VH album (VH1?). Fair Warning was a return to that LOUD guitar we all loved in VH1. In your face, no holds barred.
I, too, wish they wouldn't have turned the volume down on the bass in So This Is Love. As well, the intro to Unchained is not loud enough for me. When I turn it up to where I feel it should be, my speakers go bonkers when the drums and bass kick in.
Love that album,
TJ
