Are we really seven pages deep on Sam vs DLR lyrics?

Nice white teeth Betty Boop vs She puts the cream in my coffee?

    Dear Lord.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

Pretty sure you're significantly older than me. Regardless, once again all of Sammy's blatantly vile behavior is glossed over, while you take any negative thing said about DLR as gospel because it fits your narrative. Your act is tired.

Hey hey hey… don’t twist my words. I didn’t say anything about Sam’s lyrics. Personally I think Up For Breakfast is the most wonderful tribute to breakfast foods I’ve heard since the Frosted Flakes theme song.

Lol. I don’t have a narrative or an act. If you want to disbelieve the corroborating evidence so you can sleep at night about Dave, have at it. Having a laundry list about Sammy’s extensive ‘vile behavior’ might make your obsession with him a little more stressful than need be.

    Aussies lol.

Any new info or perspective is appreciated, so I doubt the members of this forum will ever be satiated for VH info.

Obviously, we cannot micromanage SH (nor would he likely listen) - but some of things he has written/said for print would have been better left unsaid. But those are decisions I am sure he was comfortable making and comfortable living with the consequences, even if it seems to make any reconciliation with AVH impossible (and I am not willing to let AVH off the hook for some of that distance).

Appreciate the heads-up on this article.

It's not the fucking Dutch mafia. WTF? Left unsaid? We're talking about a rock band here.

Lol. Exactly. So weird that so many take Sam to task for a few pages in a book about stuff that was already widely known, but somehow all the vitriol cast from the dutch-indo mafia and d-ro is small potatoes.

It’s ALL small potatoes. Like playground kids on the field.

It's ironic, I just stumbled across this interview with a friend of Alex's who revealed how everything went down with the aborted tribute months before his book was even out. Apparently when Alex suggested the video tribute Dave said "I don't want to hear about your fucking brother. There's not going to be any talk about your brother". I thought Al was exaggerating or misrepresenting what DLR had said and that's why he didn't get more specific, but now I suppose he was telling the truth, and you were correct about Dave in this instance. I'll admit when I'm wrong.

Very confused and disappointed though. I still find it difficult to believe it's just an ego thing as you believe it to be. DLR seemed pretty broken up talking about Eddie in his retirement announcement and seemed to have genuine affection for the VH family, why would ego make him say such hateful things so soon after EVH's death? And to Al of all people? I think he's just unstable, which seems to be the position of this friend of Alex's as well.

Well, man, the thing is, it's possible to be both a brother to someone and hostile toward them at the same time, particularly when you're considering someone like Dave, an admitted narcissist with rampant levels of ADHD. I tend to believe none of these guys are truly bad at heart, but the brothers and Dave have levels of insecurity that far surpass Sam and Mike's, and that's pretty obvious to see going as far back as the 2002 Sam/Dave tour, which touched off a shit storm for Mike simply because he wanted to jam with Sam while VH was on perhaps forever hiatus for all he knew. Then there was Dave's refusal to play with Sam and Mike on that same tour.

Nobody's saying Sam is perfect. He's most definitely not. But that book was a marginal potshot among the much, much more egregious ranks of potshots from the other three guys. When both Alex and WVH were talking about a derailed tribute thing, they were talking about Dave. The history of Dave's behavior in terms of sharing spotlights backs that up.

There's no question ALL of these guys share a brotherhood with one another regardless of how things have fallen out with them. You can't share a stage for people for as long as they did, in both eras, regardless of drinking and drugs and in-fighting. You're jamming for people night after night, year after year, 20,000 fans every other day, pumping out some of the most cherished hard rock and roll to ever hit the planet. You're going to bond no matter what. After the gigs, though, it's all accountants and tour buses and addictions and personality differences.

I have no doubt even Sam and Dave have an unheralded brotherhood, whether or not they acknowledge it. They're the lead singers for Van fuckin' Halen. That alone inextricably ties them for life. And brothers fight. Trust me, I know about that. Brothers fight. The only guy uninterested in fighting was Mike. The rest, either stood up for what they believed was right, or they sabotaged the sum of parts because they were letting their ego run wild.
