I admit I am not a bootleg collector but this solo may be only the 2nd show to have the Mean Street variation where Eddie is using that descending lick which sounds very cool. I think Charlotte is the other but is of poorer quality.

i've had the audio cassette to this Providence show since i was in Jr High or HS. don't even remember how i got it. i had never heard the song Lucille until i got that tape.

I think you're right, zig, that it's the Charlotte show. I'm wondering if he was toying with that descending lick from Mean Street more on this tour--other shows.

I remember hearing Dweezil Zappa talk about discovering that lick in a bootleg from the FW tour. It was one of those little Eddie gems that blew him away. There were a lot of those back then.

I'm seeing that there may be a total of about 8 soundboards like this on the bootleg market. Hopefully this means more will start leaking out.

He also appears to be doing something a little different to at 4:50 with by pulling instead of slapping the notes with his left hand.

Maybe he did that before or its just due to the clarity but I can't recall hearing it that pronounced in all the variations of Mean Street intro

Soundboard audio of the Fair Warning tour is still highly sought but any pro footage is considered the Holy Grail. That's the one tour I wished I could have seen. Let's hope Largo 81 and 84 leak sometime soon!
