Default Article from HS where I'm wearing VH 1984 shirt and talk about VH, Metallica, Maiden

    hello VH Fans

cleaning/organizing my Van Halen Room/home office and saw one of the articles i have from my baseball career where i talk about the Mighty Van Halen.

i mention VH, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne. this is either from my freshman or sophomore year. 1989 or 1990.

i remember that i got called to the front office from class; not because i was in trouble but because the photographer was there from the St. Louis Post Dispatch to take pics of me ! the big M in the back round is for Mehlville HS here in St. Louis.

i'm wearing my older brother's 1984 VH shirt. he wouldn't take me to the concert because i was only 9 yrs old. i cried !

sorry if i put this in the wrong spot/forum. haven't done this in a long time.

hope u guys dig it !

Steve Hacker is a great baseball name.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Matthew Broderick's name in WarGames should have been "Steve Hacker".

Edited to add: seeing that photo brings back memories of my VH Party Lion shirt I got back in 1982. It's just a damn shame it's long gone.

I have to ask the question I asked my friend that almost made it as well (AAA), toughest pitcher you have faced that people know, and toughest pitcher you've faced.

Jose Rijo was his answer for someone most people know.

Steve Karsay for a guy no one has probably heard from.

I remember him saying David Wells was frustrating to hit against, everything looked as big as a dinner plate and you still go 0-4.

Kind of makes me laugh that your friend named Steve Karsay as the guy no one’s ever heard of. He spent many years with the A’s. So yeah, your friend is right, no one has ever heard of him. 🤣 Rub a little more salt in the Oakand A’s fans wounds! (I am one by the way… or I WAS one, I should say.).

I’ve know who Steve Karsay is. I remember having a lot of his stupid rookie cards. I must’ve pulled 100 of his out of packs. Worthless even then lol.

toughest pitcher i ever faced that was famous was Darren Dreifort. from Wichita State. First Rounder for the Dodgers. threw mid 90's before everyone threw mid 90's. everything moved.

fastest pitcher i ever faced was Braden Looper. we were teamates in the Cape Cod League in 94, faced him in 1995 at our place (Missouri State) he apparently hit 98 mph against me.

faced Mark Mulder in 1999 in Vancouver.

hit 3 bombs of AJ Burnett in the Eastern League in 1999. he was a stud from Arkansas. a buddy of mine, Bobby Roders was on AJ's team (Marlins AA team) so we went out drinking after games a few times.

a guy a simply could NOT hit was Jamie Bluma from Wichita State. my kryptonite was lower/outer sliders. never could see spin/rotaion, sliders from a righty are the worst. in the 3 years i faced him in college i don't think i saw one fastball. all sliders outer. i don't tbink i got one hit off that dude. i might have struck out every damn time !!

Moose Hass no hit my high school baseball team when I was a 10th grader. I didn't play baseball I ran track and did shotput. But during practice that day our track coach told us to go over and watch. Little did we know he would come back and haunt the Orioles too.
