If they are working on old demos with no vox, I would hope they bring in Dave to work his magic.

If they need to add bass to something…. I doubt Al wants to work with Wolf or Mike. If DLR is involved, I am confident he would push for Mike.

Would love to hear something from VH that we haven’t heard before. I will not be holding my breath.

Great to see all the old familiar names and faces coming out of the woodwork again. ('',)b

Yeah, @TJENZ ... this is what I am thinking as well.

    Executive Producer: Alex Van Halen
    Producer/arranger: Steve Lukather

    All previously recorded material (Pre-2020).

Updated bass: Mike, Wolf, Steve (who knows?)

    Updated vocals/lyrics: DLR
(Sorry, I don't think SH is in the cards here for political reasons.)

Backing Vocals: Mike, Wolf, Steve (who knows?)

That's how I see it happening.

Hope you all have been well.

    Peace,

Who knows if this is a rumor--I'm going to try to be positive/hopeful about this (which is very uncharacteristic of me when we're talking about Van Halen). But, during his book tour interviews last fall, Al did say he was going to go into the vaults. And, I'd imagine he's going to have help doing that, so why not Lukather?

If vocals are to be added to tunes, I'd bet more on having different guest spots rather than just Dave. Plant is a stretch, however.

We have very little information regarding the details of this supposed project, but Van Halen the band is done, we all know that. So anything that comes out now, especially from the vaults, will be a bonus for us diehards. People can gripe all they want about it, but it's not like we're not going to listen to whatever comes out.

If this comes to fruition, and I think that is a big IF, it will be probably be a Van Toto project, and while I will buy it because it is Ed, I don't expect too much from it.

From the snippets, sounds like it would be jam sessions of Ed and Al, that Lukather arranges into songs, adds parts to flesh it out (drums, bass, additional guitars), etc.

If they decide for them to be instrumentals, fine. If they want them to be full blown rock songs, they need either DLR, Sam, or both involved. Sam is dead to Al, so unless that changes, that leaves DLR. If DLR is involved, I think it would be foolish not to include the guy writing the lyrics and vocal melodies to be involved in the arrangement.

But, I don't think that is going to happen, I think this is going to be an Ed, Al, Steve Lukather production.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

That would be an error on Alex's part, if he adds post-Ed vox that aren't penned and sung by Dave or Sam. Nobody outside of us diehards is gonna care about an AVH-Toto project. If he wants mainstream attention, he's got to involve one of those two dudes.
