RIP, SIXSTRING
In the spring of 04, i got a phone call from a buddy of mine named Bill. he was telling me about this bad ass website that is dedicated to all things Van Halen, so naturally i joined. that site was our very own vhlinks. now, bill and i had been friends since high school, we werent super tight back then because of different interests and whatnot, but we had a common interest in van halen. some time after high school, after id returned from my time with the USMC, bill and i reconnected and became the best of friends, i was going on the road with his band and paying my way as a drum tech and merch sales guy. around that time i started playing bass, and Bill stepped up and helped learn so much about the instrument. dude taught me so well i was confident enough to start playing gigs only a few weeks later!!!! we would spend our sundays at the river drinking beer, ogling the women and jamming to VH, among other things. bill was a connoisseur of music. he strayed faaaaar from the mainstream and listened to a lot of musicians that many of us have yet to hear of. he also turned me on to some amazing texas talent, some of whom ive shared the stage with , such as monte montgomery, robert earl keen, james mcmurtry, kinky friedman, flaco jimenez, among others. i can go on and on about the shit we used to do and get into, but that would require a lot more space than is offered here. all i can say is because of sixstring, im here on the links. because of the links, sixstring met his wife, angie. and more than several of us have forged some pretty solid friendships, both in person and some still that have yet to meet. bill was always a solid guy. he had some rough times, but that goes hand in hand with life in general. he made fast friends here on the links and in life. i last spoke with him back before christmas. we talked a bit about getting together and jamming with our other school friend aaron. wish it could have happened. i hate the way this has gone, as myself, stilleddiesangel, KTGiles, filthy150, rockcandy, tropical storm tracey, hurricane halen, and several others have lost a great friend and husband in this tragedy. the vhlinks family he has here is going to miss him tremendously. this really sucks. We love you, Bill. Godspeed and man, i really hope youre up there jamming with Eddie, stevie, dime, vinnie and jaco right now.

The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!
