Default Floyd RoseWood Mounting Screw Studs

Question for the builder here. Do you use the Floyd Rose mounting screw studs for you builds, or do you go with stud insert approach for your Floyd Rose trem?

    It depends....

If I am doing a VH replica Kramer or early Ed replica ALWAYS the wood screws and not only that, I will get the prototype ones with the taller head etc... if its a newer guitar, always the ones w the bushings.... they are more secure imho...

+1 to what Rob said. Easier adjustments on the bushings too. But if it's a replica I'll go wood screws for accuracy.

I’m surprised no one has made an aftermarket bridge post for a Floyd Rose with the flat head slot. At least with that you could kinda have the best of both worlds (no that’s not a pun)

I prefer the wood screws for home builds (personal preference), but Rob & Jedi are 100% correct.

Ive never used the wood screws (didn’t know that was a thing until recently). Seems like it would be hard to make smaller adjustments to the bridge height with the wood screws, but I have never used them before.

Most common issue with the wood screws is a body cracking towards the trem cavity from the screw hole.

I was thinking more about this today. Does anyone know how one would potentially accomplish doing this?

These used to be more common. Peavey Wolfgangs and plenty of Fenders had Floyds with bushings that had flat head screw adjustments. The heads of those screws were smaller, but they were still flatheads.

They're just not as practical as a hex bolt. With a flathead one slight misstep and you gash your guitar's top. On an EVH style beater it may not be a big deal, but on a figured top it would be.

    Jedi's right.

One time, I was working on one of my axes, sneezed and put a hole in the control cavity.
