We can look back as old men now and call it "hair metal" but it was just the way shit was in the mid to late 80s. Fucking Ozzy was rocking hairspray and sparkly bullshit... Marketing silliness. We are not going to lump the EEAS band in with Poison though... There is a certain level of musicianship that DLR always had in his bands.

Unless you were U2 - you were pretty much hair something or other...

I know people want rip on Dave or lets say Ozzy for riding the wave of Liberace but Van Halen with Sammy was maybe on shore but was at the beach. He was sporting some moose knuckle with spandex with Tokyo show. VH later went with a more serious look with Balance where a sinister Eddie was rocking the Dante Hicks goatee.

As bad as Dave is here, Eddie rocking pink MC Hammer pants and a Canadian dress shirt (wifebeater) isn't that iconic. Bands follow fashion trends. Nothing new.

I have seen pics with Ed wearing eyeliner and platform shoes. I don't know about Al and Mike. I can't tell you how many glam looking guys I knew that got more pussy than jock looking guys back in the 70s. You didn't need to go full Bowie for that either.

Thank God that phase was gone by the time I was a teenager. Maybe out in hair metal heaven LA it was different. I mean, I looked like a gay pirate when I went out to party in 1987, but that was the style.
