Fire a threat to 5150?

Any SoCal geography folks want to inform the rest of us? Seems like we have this same discussion every few years. Where is the Palisades fire in relation to the studio?

I've had the same dark thoughts. The Runyon Canyon fire was heading west towards Cold Water Canyon last night. I know the area but not well enough to know the level of risk of things spreading up the hill.

Sad for everyone affected. And scared for that place and those tapes!

There actually WAS a large Studio City fire only 800 yards from 5150 last night around 9 PST... ABC7 was streaming it live.

LAFD was able to stop the spread very quickly with Helicopter water drops. It was on a street just west of 5150 called Sunswept Drive if I recall.

They were working their asses off last night on this Studio City fire and the fire north of Hollywood Blvd at North Curson Ave. They did not want these primo areas getting out of control.

It was quite amazing watching how the helicopters were so organized and PRECISE with continual water and retardant drops.

I did watch some footage on X of Canadian waterbombers dumping on fires, which made me feel good. Even if the president-elect is pissing us off, we're all neighbors in times of need

It's a Van Halen Website. I get that you're in LA and this is close to you and I'm sorry for that. It sucks in a terrible way. People can be concerned about 5150 here still and not be slagged for it.

No, you won't. It's pretty dickish, and so's your response.

I don't have any problem giving you a some grace given your personal circumstance and proximity to the fires. 99 percent of the board members here don't live in LA though so this is a perfectly natural inquiry.

Perspective-wise, the potential loss of 5150 and it's archive of digital and analog one of a kind recordings that the fan base of VH would love to see released someday, would be a massively historic event in the overall history, and future, of the Van Halen legacy.

It's relevant, and it's ok to bring up without you being the typical you over it trying to shame people for even talking about it. Let it go and move on. You probably have bigger things to worry about than a board tussle with your old pal Seenbad.

If you guys actually follow the wildfire thread, you would see that we’ve been discussing the whole 5150 thing. It’s not in danger. There was a fire in the Hollywood Hills. Everyone has been allowed to return to their homes, so clearly it’s not being affected.

Nothing else needs to be said. This isn’t affecting 5150. I’m closing this. We’re not gonna have a big argument about what’s appropriate and what’s not.

And I personally don’t believe people who are asking about 5150 are being insensitive.
