Forbidden error

not sure if this means anything, but i did a tracert with each connection - didn't really notice a difference, but i also did a netstat -a with each connection and this was the difference:

Spectrum (forbidden):

192.168.37.2:51315 vhlinks:https CLOSE_WAIT
192.168.37.2:51316 vhlinks:https CLOSE_WAIT

Verizon (connects)

172.20.10.13:51372 vhlinks:https CLOSE_WAIT
172.20.10.13:51373 vhlinks:https ESTABLISHED

so with my limited knowledge of this kind of stuff, it looks to me like each connection is using different ports and the only one that is getting through which is Verizon on port 51373. Why they are using different ports, I have no idea

I have both Spectrum and Verizon and I don’t have this issue. I’m still trying to figure out what it could possibly be.

FWIW, I've found Chrome opens the site fine now but Safari gets the Forbidden error 95% of the time.

i'll have to try Chrome again after I drop the hot spot.

Just to make sure it wasn't my new router, i directly connected a laptop to the spectrum modem - still no go. So weird as I was on without issue Saturday morning and then wasn't able to get on when i came home Saturday afternoon. Still not convinced my old router is bad as even when i connected the laptop directly into the Spectrum modem i had to reboot everything which i don't think i should have to do if i'm just changing a connection, but i don't have the time or desire to mess with it as I need a functioning internet to work from home

so i don't have Google Chrome on my personal computer but I tried it on my work computer (which is on the same network) - no go

I could get there with my VPN connected on my work computer

I tried Internet Explorer mode just for grins and the message looks like this:

while i was connected last time, I tried logging off in case for some reason it wasn't passing the cached credentials and also clearing my browser history, but still not happening. Still having to use the phone-as-hotspot when i want to connect.

I just tried my phone as a hotspot with my problematic browser (Safari) - no dice.

Chrome is still working for now.

ok - so hopefully the server people had a nice holiday and can now get down to the business of solving this issue - shit's getting old! If there is any other diagnostic information i can provide, please let me know

If I try to log on using firefox on my frontier internet I get a prohibited message. If I use the same computer and firefox but log onto my business spectrum internet I'm ok.

At first I thought it was a problem with the frontier because I was having issues with my smart tv as well. Hulu would keep telling me I was not at home and prompt me to reset. I called frontier because obviously they had me set up with a dynamic ip instead of static and once that was reported the problems with Hulu stopped.

But I am still having issues here but only on the frontier internet

Thanks, Brett. FWIW, it's still happening to me consistently on Safari but not on Chrome.
