Forbidden error

so i got home from my day out today and my power had gone out. So I was hoping that that also meant maybe my internet reset and i had a new ip address. So once I got the clocks reset and booted up - sure enough - new IP. Come to the forum - it let me on. Go to main - good, go to music only - good, open a thread in music only - error. damn it.

I use firefox and if I try to log on at home where I just switched to Frontier i get the error. But if I use the same laptop to log onto the spectrum business wifi that I have, with a much weeker signal, I'm ok.

same browser, different internet provider. I was having an issue with the Frontier where it had a dynamic ip and everytime I tried to stream HULU it told me that it looked like I wasn't at home and reset the address. So I called in and they changed it to a static ip and that has been solved. but I'm still getting error message at home for this site.

Wanna blame it on Spectrum, but it’s Spectrum that lets you on and Frontier that keeps you off, while Spectrum is what I can’t get on with. Wonder what the IP address starts with for the people that can’t get on. My Spectrum IP address starts with a 104., I know they have several different ranges that they use.

yeah, so i'm on the road on what appears to be a Centracom circuit and of course it works no problem... Oh, well, enjoy it for the next two weeks i guess!

When you guys have this issue, what browsers are you using? So I guess we were getting attacked by bots from China and they had to ban older versions of some browsers. And that’s probably why some of you are having issues with certain ones.

I'm always on the latest version of Safari (18.3) and still experiencing the issue if I block websites from tracking me.

Safari on the iPads (which are always updated); Edge or Chrome on the PC.

And not sure that would explain why they would work if I’m connected to a VPN or away from home on the same devices that don’t work otherwise!

My suggestion to everyone is to make sure you are using the most up-to-date versions of the browsers you use. My host said that is why people are getting the forbidden error. It’s based on the browser, not anything else.

If you’re using an old version of Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer, you’re going to get the forbidden message. You need to be on newer versions.

It sucks that Bill and others have been having this issue. I had a feeling it was their browsers. I always used Firefox on most of my pc's but the one I using now I just settled for Edge and so far no major problems.

the host needs to put their thinking toque back on - my Edge version is Version 133.0.3065.82 (Official build) (64-bit) and can't get any more up to date than that and besides, if the issue was the browser, it wouldn't work regardless of what network i was on.

Much like Fred Flintstone and the cat, I ain’t winning this battle. Apparently the server people can’t grasp that it is not the browser, otherwise it wouldn’t work regardless of what network I am on. I tried to get Spectrum to change my IP address since this is when the issue started, and after arguing with her as to whether it’s the modem ip address or the router ip address (and she kept insisting it was the router ip address so unless there is a router that is controlled by Spectrum before my modem, it’s not the router ip address!) she told me the only way to change the ip address was to swap the modem. So out to the Spectrum store I went, having to reroute around what appeared to be a nasty wreck. The dude at the store was skeptical that a modem swap was going to help me and bonus points to Spectrum dude because after getting back home and hooking it all up and then having to call Spectrum again because the damn thing wouldn’t activate, I indeed still have the same IP address I’ve had for the past few months and can not connect using my home network.
