Well, shit, yeah - when someone’s willing to pay you 30+ million a year to play maybe five half innings of baseball every five days, why not? Plus you get a good opportunity to pick up some World Series money, too. Shouldn’t be hearing about him being worried about feeding his family anyway.

Anybody hear about this “golden batter” horseshit? I wish there was a group that had the wherewithal to start a rival league that would actually play the game correctly, but it would never get off the ground.

Soto decision may come at the end of this week, ahead of the Winter Meetings. It's still the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Blue Jays and Dodgers as the top contenders.

There is probably no price high enough for the Mets ownership. And the Dodgers just went over $1B in deferred payments, so, at that point, what's a little more? I think George's kids are much more financially conservative than their dad ever was, so I have to wonder where the limit is for the Yankees. Red Sox can be sneaky, but but there's not a lot of support throughout their roster. Blue Jays are the wildcard here, IMO. I've no idea where they stand. Seems like a longshot, but you never know.

Yeah, when those Salary Cap figures come out..... remember this. The Dodgers are actually #1... BY A LOT.

Until the small market owners give a fuck, this isn't going to change. The Small Market owners are just happy with a payout each year, they don't give a fuck about being competitive.

I watch less and less baseball each year.

The small market owners have money they just don’t wanna pay. I don’t wanna hear any more bullshit that they’re all poor. They’re not. The Dodgers owners aren’t even the richest in baseball. I think the Giants have richer owners than the Dodgers do.

And it doesn’t even matter if the Dodgers pay for all these guys or not. They don’t win every year. In fact in the last 24 years, has there been a repeat champion? No.

The NBA and the NFL are dominated by the same few teams every year. That’s not the case in baseball when it comes to the playoffs. A different team is winning it every year.

There’s more parity in baseball than any sport.

If anything there should be a salary floor in baseball so that all these cheap fucking owners who don’t want to pay and stick everything in their pockets are forced to.

To hear a Giants fan whining is laughable. They have plenty of money. They’re just greedy and don’t care about the product they put on the field anymore. And the Bay Area is hardly a small market.

B, I think you and AP are saying the same thing about the small market teams crying that they can't compete. Whit Merrifield basically came out and said the same thing a few years ago. There is a point in the season that all the teams are making money . All of them. Regardless of their payroll or record.

I just think it’s a silly argument in baseball anyway. Plenty of small market teams win all the time. The Dodgers have been knocked out of the playoffs by small market teams several times. Small market teams have won the World Series. The argument that a small market team can’t compete in the MLB is just not true.

Frankly, I think it’s the one thing that’s great about baseball. There are always teams that overachieve. Look at the Royals this year. Nobody thought they would get into the playoffs. And they made some noise. You never know what can happen.

The Dodgers going crazy and spending all this money doesn’t guarantee anything. Yeah, last year they got it done. But many years they haven’t as we all know. They finally win one and everyone is all pissed off. Nobody cared when the Dodgers were spending all that money and losing in the NLDS to small market teams. People were laughing. Now, they win one and it’s unfair.
