Why would Golden State want to get even older? Jimmy Butler is done.

He was a better fit with Suns. He already signed that extension. It was just about the money for this guy. Phoenix maybe dodged a bullet thanks to Beal and his NTC.

Green and Butler definitely going to dislike each other at some point. Durant did not want to go back to Warriors he hates that fucking guy.

Unless some epic trade goes down today everyone focusing on the Lakers getting Luka but the Spurs pulled off the best trade of this whole deadline as Lakers were kind of gifted Luka thanks to Nico being cheap. They absolutely fleeced the Kings. They kept Castle, Vassell, Johnson, Barnes, CP3, Sochan. Fox and Wemby going to dominate. Pop needs to retire and hand the keys over to Mitch Johnson permanently. He is doing a great job with that young group.

The Spurs could "fleece" the Kings because Fox said San Antonio is where he is ultimately going. This is the part of the Luka deal people aren't thinking about. If you do go public and shop him, Luca can shift the leverage back to himself by saying he won't sign but a few places, maybe only one.

I'm optimistic about Mark Williams. In a lot of ways you could overpay because you underpaid for Luka. He wasn't really on the block, but Charlotte coveted Knecht and had the type of player the Lakers and Luka wanted.

He has an injury history but, when healthy, might be worth what they gave up. He had a 40-point game a while back and in his last ten he is averaging 20, 12 and 2 blocks at 56% from the field. His per 36 this season is 22, 14, and 2 blocks. He is on his rookie contract with two more years. They have him and Austin on huge discounts. Further, if you were going to trade Knecht, this was the time. People remember his hot start. But what has been true recently is his IQ isn't stellar and his defense has improved 0%. Sell him high on his rookie deal when he was going to be on the outside looking in the rotation, and get your center, younger, even, than Dalton. Liked him, but this was a good move.

Lakers have a young core of Luka (25), Reaves (26), Hachimura (26), Vando (25), and Williams (23) and a ton of cap flexibility when Lebron is gone. AND they have gone all in on winning this year.

It is only 2 years on Jimmy Butler. It makes them better right now. Butler is better than Wiggins currently. Especially to take the double teams off Steph late in games.

......and with the way the NBA is going, he could be dealt again in a year if it doesn't work......lol..


Sounds like KD did not want to go to Golden State (in rumored 3-way deal with Maimi, PHX and GS). So, Butler to GS was the backup plan.

Would you rather have Andrew Wiggins? Wiggins has not been great since 2022. He gets his points here and there, but not when it counts, not in crunch time, he just fades away.

Butler should be motivated to prove everyone and the Heat wrong. Change of scenery here should be huge. Butler can at least score or get to the line in the 4th quarter. If teams double Steph, Bulter should have a lane to the paint.

It at least makes it interesting here in NorCal.

Wiggins was great during the 2022 Championship run. He fit in perfectly with Klay, Steph and Draymond at the time. He was a decent KD replacement (a poor mans KD...lol)...

BUT something happened with him after that. Especially in 2024, he was not good. Warriors have been looking for someone to take him ever since.

Butler obviously wasn't the Warriors first choice. They wanted KD. But KD wasn't interested in coming back here.

Sure, they overpaid Butler with the 2-year deal to keep him happy. But the Warriors aren't afraid to burn money and go over the Cap into the penalty. Warriors are hoping the get "PLAYOFFS Jimmy Butler" like in 2020, 2022 & 2023.
