You know, I just had a random thought about all the speculation of "96?" or "99?" and such.

Maybe it is more current than we think, considering it was probably recorded in the same place as stuff in 96 or 99 and who knows how much has changed in 5150 itself.

The last thing we heard to come out of it was the snippets of Ed, Al, and Wolf preparing for the 07 tour which were on the VH website at the time.

Who the hell truly knows.

Exactly, everyone is trying to target some date based on the sounds they hear and possible guitars/effects that were used. When it's quite possible that Ed could have used any one of his guitars, effects, amps etc. that he had accumulated over the course of 40+ years. He could've used anything and worked on this in 2017 for example. We have no idea.

It's likely they just reworked it in the late 2010's which is why Al said it's the last thing Ed and him worked on. So you are correct it's more current than we think if they reworked the song and that is what we listened to. The Sam version of Between Us Two might sound totally different even if some of the guitar parts are still the same.

Yeah, most of us could pinpoint it was from the 96 era just by the tone.

Odd part to me is they say the Gary version was done after he was gone from the band. Unless i didn't understand it right.

That's what Chris said. In the interview below, Gary talks about recording a vocal for Eddie around 2015.

I'm sure Sammy, Gary and Dave have plenty of goodies they could leak but never will. Why? Because VH Inc. would be pissed. Simple as that. It's the way of the world and they've known it for years.

That's a nice interview the interviewer really knew how to pull Gary's strings and get into detail about not only the follow up to VH3 but also how much unreleased material Ed has. There has to be a ton of it.

At the 19:00 minute mark in the video he asks if Gary has spoken to Alex and he of course says no. Hopefully Gary is not on Alex's beef list like Hagar. I bring that up because Gary mentioned Alex sat him down before he left the band and I bet it was not all peaches and cream like Gary made it out to be.

Gary is a nice guy but if you leave Van Halen odds are it was not on good terms. It was not for Dave or Sammy and I doubt it was a handshake and waive good bye for Gary either.
