In other NHL news..... The NY Islanders somehow won the draft lottery last night moving up 9 spots to get the #1 pick. Most think they will take Defenseman Matthew Schaefer (OHL).

SJ Sharks land at #2. Most likely they go high scoring forward Michael Misa (OHL).

I think there's a chance that the Islanders may drop down a couple of spots and take James Hagens (a Long Beach native).

There really is not too much trading down at the top of the NHL draft (like you see in the NFL Draft).

The NY Islanders will also have a new GM with Lou L leaving. This new GM will likely try to make his own mark with the #1 pick.

The Islanders have such a poor prospect pool and old NHL Team, they need to take the best player available. They could trade down, but I just think the temptation to take the top player Schaefer at #1 is too strong.

The Oilers also had a huge comeback to beat Vegas.

Another great game with Edmonton and Vegas.

Vegas battled back to get it to OT. Then a crazy 5 min Major penalty...... but Vegas somehow killed it off. In the end, McJesus and Leon were too much, perfectly done 2 on 1 to win it.

The OT was wild, Edmonton hit the post and crossbar a few times. When Edmonton scored the OT winner at first I thought it hit the post! I think a lot of people did. But it was just inside the post. I am cheering on the Oilers, they came super close to winning the cup last year, they have a lot of motivation to get it done this year.

I watched all of the Oliers vs. Vegas game. Edmonton went up 2-0 early, then blew the lead! Then they tied it with just a few minutes left in the 3rd. Then Vegas scored with less than a second left to win it! Leon Draisaitl actually scored it by mistake, the shot was going wide and he deflected it into the top of his own net!

Edmonton did not play hard enough the entire game for me, they dominated early and late in the game. But took a lot of the middle of the game off and they paid for it!

Oilers played their best team game, limiting quality shots. This helped Skinner.

They were also hitting and taking it to the Knights. Eichel looks tired and Pietrangelo looks hurt.

Oilers depth scoring from Henrique and Kane were huge.

We also got our first fight of the playoffs.
