Brian May The 1983 EVH Starfleet Interview- Jas Obrecht
In this 1983 interview, Queen guitarist Brian May explains how his one-of-a-kind studio jam session with Eddie Van Halen and others led to the blues-packed EP called "Star Fleet Project." Brian details the science-fiction-themed project from start to finish. He also reveals how his musical upbringing, especially his love and appreciation for the blues and Eric Clapton, fueled the EP. Naturally, he also provides insight into working with Eddie Van Halen during one of Eddie's rare projects outside of the band Van Halen.

If you're into classic rock guitar from the 1980s, I invite you to check out my other "Talking Guitar" podcast interviews with Eddie, Brian, AC/DC's Angus and Malcom Young, Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Schenker, Joe Satriani, Dio-era Vivian Campbell, Ratt's Warren De Martini and Robbin Crosby, and others. And please consider subscribing -- there are lots more interviews to come!
Thanks to engineer/producer Nik Hunt for filming the intro and enhancing the sound of the 41-year-old master tape.
