It is common in families when a patriarch passes for others to try to elevate themselves by gatekeeping for leverage, pushing emotional buttons, and weaponizing family relationships for their own ego and perception. Beyond that is dirty laundry but what has gone on with the Bertinelli's is not uncommon. It is also common for the trustee or in the case Al to toss hands up and simply disengage. Jani has been the classiest one of the whole bunch. I don't think she's said a damn thing ever, about any of this crap, even when Val was trying to tell everyone Ed and her were having problems and going on about being there when Ed passed, like Janie wasn't even involved anymore.

Val is as big a part of the dysfunction in VH land as anyone else involved. That’s including her son which unfortunately has inherited that gene from both his parents.

I wasn't doing that, but she was also there the day Ed died and even Val says they were still close, she just said Janie moved out a few years before.

Difference is, Jani isn't running around telling everyone about all the details.

that's what I think. I mean if any of this waits until Wolfgang is in his 50's, or after all the guys who made the music are dead, it would be listened to by an entirely different audience.... if they give a crap. I could be way off base but I think most of VH's hardcore fans are between 50 and 60 (give or take a few years on either side) and hell, many of us might be gone.

On a different note, wouldn't it be easier for them to release a bunch live stuff? Forget digging through the vault to piecemeal songs together. Aren't there any good live tapes we haven't seen or heard? It's interesting that a band, in ALL eras, was a great LIVE band, put out next to nothing in the form of live records.
