I was like basically kidnapped on Friday nites by "Youth Groups" at Faith Assembly in my town. Hung out with the Tripps, the Power Team. All completely unbeknownst to my parents... I was just looking for a normal family. I eventually ran away from it, literally ran out a door that they had forgotten to lock while they were Fire & Brim stoning us young impressionable lost kids in our Iron Maiden T-Shirts.

Found myself again in a beautiful Catholic church on the Ocean when I went to college.
I just try to keep it simple. Respect the elders, because they are all elders compared to me. Center myself. Forget about the gym, my past, even Van Halen. Realize that I'm going to die someday.... Read and try to fully understand the scriptures on the screen, say the prayers, feel the prayers... throw a check in the collection plate, and then go sit in my car alone for 15-20 minutes.

It's just a Ctrl-Alt-Delete for my spirit every Saturday at 4pm.

That's my perception of that book. I'm pretty resolute when my mind is made up. I don't want to read books where the principal characters have not been interviewed. Ed, Al, Dave. Maybe Mike was Idk. It was so lauded here that I'm going to naturally be averse to it. Is that right? Is that a good way to be? Perhaps not, but that's how I roll. I was called a "contrarian" recently. Guilty as charged. If a side is being ganged up on...it's my natural inclination to help. No harm, no foul and apologies..

    Bro - try this one....

"Following the band’s pursuit of the art of artlessness, Scanlan describes how they characterize what historian Kevin Starr terms “Zen California”—a state of mind and way of being that above all celebrates the now, and in rock and roll terms refers to the unregulated expenditure of energy and youthful exuberance destined to extinguish itself. Scanlan sheds light on key events and influences—the decaying of Hollywood in the 1970s; Ted Templeman’s work as a producer at Sunset Sound Studios; Top Jimmy, a blues rock singer who performed at the Zero Zero club; and the building of Eddie Van Halen’s Hollywood Hills studio in 1983—that show how 1970s California was the only time and place that Van Halen could have emerged. Along the way, Scanlan also explores the relationship between David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen, the climate of Southern California and its relation to a sense of cultural exuberance, the echoes of Beat aesthetics in David Lee Roth’s attitude to time, Eddie Van Halen’s bebop sensibility, and the real roots of the so-called “Brown” sound."

My mom found it in a Library she volunteered at and brought it home for me many years ago. It's not the easiest read - but that's because it goes way deeper than backyard parties and shit.

Bingo! I was disgusted when i read that BS. As soon as she gets a man, she drops Ed like a bad habit after clutching her pearls for all that time after he died. I always liked her, but i lost all respect for her when i read that.

When is this book from? I've never heard of it. I've heard of every other VH book under the sun.
