Sam is a fool if he's going to attempt DTWLCD. He'll shit his pants. Just do FSG, MAM, or Cabo Wabo.
What is his problem with that album?

Oh, I see. Singing lower. Meh. Doesn't quite have the same impact, but then again, I never liked that song anyway. What's glaringly missing from the setlist is my only criticism of the tour.
5150 and Judgement Day are great. Love it, but Sam just goes with the tried and true all the time. Rarely takes chances. FSG. CSTLY. Those were both singles. It has been almost 30 years since that song was performed. FSG, never. DTMWLCD is a downer.

Ok late to the party with my review but definitely wanted to document it.
Going into the show I could not get out of my mind that this was probably going to be the last time I'm going to hear Van Halen songs performed by people who were actually in the band. It was a sobering thought. I had tears in my eyes hearing Good Enough, Summer Nights, and 5150. By the first time I saw VH in 1993 those songs were out of the set list and never to be played again (as far as I know). The band was in great from and the crowd was unexpectedly really into it and singing along. Lately at shows it seems the older folks in crowds are pretty tame and the younger folks just have there phone up the whole time.
Joe had a good balance of paying homage to Eddie with mixing in his own style. Jason held the groove down. Rai was a nice addition on background vocals and live keyboards. Was so great to see Mike play again live. His energy and voice doesn't seemed to have changed a bit. You know he loved being on stage in VH. The offstage drama's I'm sure took it's toll. Sam was great as well. Some songs were tuned down so he could hit the notes but couldn't expect more out of a 76 year old singer. He still brings the party and I applaud him for playing these songs again and keeping them alive for at least one more summer.
Real shame that all the living VH band members couldn't put there differences aside for a couple of shows but that has been beat into the ground enough. So happy to have had this night.
Long live the Mighty Van Halen!!

Similar to other posts, I went into this show thinking it would be the last time I hear the songs performed live. I was also extremely excited to hear so many songs from 5150, as noted in my pre-show post. I saw VH for the first time in 93 at Great Woods, in Providence and both Great Woods shows in 95, in 98 at the Fleet Center both shows in Worcester in 04 and the show in Worcester in 07. I love all VH, but I prefer Sammy over Roth live and have seen almost every solo and Chickenfoot show he has played in the area since '97. I took a break from Sammy after seeing the Circle at Foxwoods in 2017, as I felt the setlist got stale.
This was special. I went with my high school friend that went with me to my first show in 93, another lifelong friend and VH fan and his 16 year old son who loves VH. We hit it hard at the Fairfield Inn bar across the street from Great Woods pre-show. It was the 16 year old kid's VH lost weekend! He will never forget this show and will probably talk about it the way me and my friends still talk about our first show on 7/10/93! I think we were bullet proof that night as the bartenders watched us with very confused looks on their faces as we handed drinks to the kid in the amphitheater as they were serving us.
Hearing the one, two punch of 5150 (I first heard it live on the 06 solo tour) and Summer Nights was amazing. I never though I would see Summer Nights performed live in person. It is something I've dreamed of since I was in high school and checks off another item on the bucket list. It exceeded all expectations!
I agree with everyone else that the solo stuff at the end prevented it from being one of the best shows I've seen. That said, I would rank it a very close second to the 93 RHRN show setlist-wise and the most happy and satisfied walking out of a VH/Sammy show. If this is the last time for me, I will never forget it and am so glad I got to see them kick ass and make magic.
