I can't isolate it but the Spanish Fly from LWAN. I've teared up multiple times, listening to that. That piece of music on LWAN THAT version....is EVH to me and everything I've ever loved about the guy. I don't know why, but THAT'S EVH to me. My ears were formed to that piece of music on that night.

If I was being strict, the eras would all run in to each other.

Eg: bombastic would go up to ‘83 and slippy slidey up to ‘90. I just stuck with the album release years for ease.

By ‘edgy’ for FUCK I meant he had some of that old-time fire about him again. Not as much as ‘78 but more than anything since Beat It. Hence his playing had an edge. Just those unison notes on Runaround and In ‘n’ Out gimme chills.

And no, you can’t have multiple eras!

You're missing "First shot at sobriety & while things ended up going south after BOV1, the music was great and the live performances were spectacular (1995-1996)"

The Twister soundtrack was my introduction to Van Halen.

Humans Being will always be my favorite Van Halen song.

His solo on the Toronto '95 PPV still fucking slays me.

My favorite EVH would be Eddie Van Halen.

Oh, it's a poll. My bad.

    Bombastic (1978-1980) in a landslide.

Ugh. Is it one of these?

    Songs. Albums, etc.

I thought this might have some creativity to it.

NONE of the above. 81- 83 was perhaps his best tone and still piss and vinegar

I was going to ask BC why he left out those years.

IMO, the debut and Fair Warning were the albums with his best tone.

Because it’s still part of his bombastic years. His style didn’t morph into something identifiably new until 1984. Likewise, 93-96 was still his FUCK style.

I also forgot FW was 81 and not 80.

    Precisely.

Again, I still assert the 18 tracks that comprise Fair Warning, WACF, and the 4 originals on DD are Ed at his finest.
