    How about cremate their copies?

    Great post!

And, I can't believe this, but I've never heard this song before. Just played it 4x in a row. Thanks for sharing. All is well!

Nearly impossible for a 47 year old American not to have heard that song. RF, you have to have forgotten it.

I was just having this debate yesterday morning at a breakfast meeting about another 'Kris.'! But the song in question was anybody who grew up in the seventies...was there anyway at all to avoid the song Convoy, by CW McCall? Or Manilow's Copacabana? I said not a chance. Maybe plenty of folks missed the movie (too bad, Kristofferson is great, ever heard of a duck that can't swim?), but that Convoy song? If you listened to FM or AM radio in the seventies, I think that would've been a long shot to have missed it entirely.

    Also...Disco Duck. Speaking of ducks.

First time I saw Christopher Cross do that song was on Solid Gold back in the early 80s. Pretty sublime!

Summer 85, they would dim the lights and there were 3 options to choose from to dance with the gal you fancied:

    1) Christopher Cross "Sailing"
    2) Spandau Ballet "True"
    3) Phil Collins "One More Night"

Then you had to decide on "arms extended" or "prolonged hug."

Ha.....I was in middle school from 81 to 83, and the slow dance song at my school dances was always Journey's "Open Arms". It was always a hug and holding the girl close. The big decision was whether I would try to make out with the girl or not!

Tommy Taylor played drums on that whole first CC album. He did a masterful job playing drums on Sailing and later used that same beat on Forty Mile Town from Eric Johnson's 1986 album Ah Via Muiscom. He's been with Eric for years and has such a great feel.

Could it have passed my ears without recognition over the years? Sure....but honestly, there isn't a cell in my brain that recognized a single note in this song. You're a musician and you know how music memory works. I told my better half about this new-to-me-song and played it on Spotify. She just laughed and had the same reaction.

Billy Sheehan bass playing gets way too much credit. That's not what bass is all about imo. Same thing with Les Claypool I dont wanna hear that kind of bass playing. To think that Ed wanted that in VH is mind-boggling. I don't know who this Berlin dude was or his style but it seems Ed had a hard on for having a bass player that was his equivalent. That's not the role of a bass player.
