I listened to it before I read the transcription. You read it before you listened to it.

I think that explains our different perspectives. Neither is right or wrong. They're just opinions.

Doesn't he basically admit that, though?

I have no horse in this race. I actually think that the part that follows, where he discusses The Who song that celebrates him, paints him as a total jerk.

Brett, you gotta post in politics more. You don't need to get into it on hot topic issues like abortion etc but what's your view on Social Security (you're old now) Illegal immigration etc. C'mon man.

Nobody thinks they have an accent. We all do. It's a universal thing.

Even in Australia, I can pick somebody from, say, Tasmania pretty quickly based on their accent.

It blows my mind -- on the surface -- that Americans can't tell the difference between an Australian and New Zealand accent, but given your own country has so many accents, it makes sense.

My uncle's accent is wild. It's a combination of Northern California, Hawaii, and Victoria, Australia. The way he pronounces the word "coffee" will always confuse me.

I'm not saying he's a great producer -- far from it -- but if people are going to judge what he said, they might as well hear him say it...
Well, this is the first time I've ever seen anyone get emotional defending Mike Post.

You may correct me if you like...but I don't think there's such a thing as a Californian accent (except maybe the surfer dude voice...but that could be multiple states).

I have lots of friends and family in California. My brother lives in southern California.

So, I don't know what he means by saying "California accent."

I've been in Chicago 17 years. Since moving here, my friends in Toronto all say I now have a somewhat "Chicago accent."

California is almost too big to have one single accent, IMO.

    Seriously.

I was thinking the same thing. Only on Links can ANYBODY even remotely associated with VH, be defended.

If somebody worked with Ed....there's a fan friend.

That's why some of you here call VHIII an Eddie Van Halen solo record because he basically produced the whole thing as Mike Post did not do shit. He played the drums and bass on some songs and got the guy from Extreme to sing lead vocals.

Whatever you want to call those followup demos to VHIII I want to hear them even if some of you think it would be trash. I thought they sounded great live and more like a real band. To bad it did not occur to Ed that it would have been a good idea to translate that into the studio recordings of the album.

I donít think we have an accent either. I think people from California have a pretty nondescript way of speaking.

The only thing that I think is probably different might be our choice of words.

And think about it...California has been one of the most commonly emigrated-to states in the union. People from all over the country have moved to Cali. From all over the world too.

It's also the "accent" that most of the world hears when they watch their televisions or movies. It's kind of a "generic American accent."

On top of that, it has such a rich cornucopia of cultures.

I'm half-Armenian. I'm not sure if you've ran into any Armenians, Brett...but there are a TON of them in southern California.

Personally, I love California. The only reason my wife and I didn't move there when we bought our house is because I love cold weather. Honestly.

My brother will never move. (And his "accent" has not changed one iota since moving there 20 years ago.)
