Post Gregg Bissonette - DLR's Eat 'Em & Smile (what a blast!)

Apologies if this has already been posted (it was produced in February 2023)...

This is really cool. Gregg Bissonette is a monster on drums...and he made this short little doc (on his YouTube channel), going through the songs on probably Dave's best album:

"I had a girl beating on my hotel door all night...She was screaming, crying. Finally, I said, 'What the hell'...and I let her out!"- DLR

One of the better humans. Greg ran that band and contributed more than he will ever het credit for but he ran that band. His ability to stay level combined with his great composition lnowledge is such a great fit for Dave to this day.

Indeed! That was just such a strong band. I would say, compositionally, they did not compare to Van Halen...they simply could not write music as well as what Edward was pumping out. BUT in terms of the actual playing talent in that band, they smoked most bands in the world.

I just get annoyed for sone reason he ages backward. The acoustic songs w John 5 were essentially produced and arranged by Greg. He was the guy who had to tell both John and Dave despite their enthusiasm they had to entirely re record because none of the pieces could be sync because did it backwards. Hence John recorded those parts entirely on a 30 hour period - twice.
Dave rerecorded vocal after the reunion tour. Funny part was Greg telling me how Dave summond him to finish in 2019. First off Dave tends tobstart calls in mid sentence after declaring Roth here lol. Greg speaks Dave so Dave asking him to come over to help as if they had just worked on it a few weeks ago after a decade is something he rolls with.

For drum geeks this is great

In all seriousness, you're a pretty great source of all sorts of information of which I had NO idea.

    Very cool to know this.

(Now downloading the Gregg interview to my ever-expanding series of folders, organized by years, that I will eventually put together into a nice, cohesive set of documentaries. )

    Here's all about Greg
When he interviews, you will notice he plugs other people and brags about folks he works with. Just a really good dude. Assholes in the industry get more press so guys like Gregg deserve all the love they get.

Don't you find it sad that some of the nicest, most-talented musicians aren't necessarily the ones who get the most attention? Gregg just seems like a good dude...and he seems to have nothing but good memories of Dave.

In fact, that's one of the cool things about the EEAS Band. Everyone in that band just seems to look back on those days with real fondness. Nobody hates anybody. I just really...like that.

Post David Lee Roth with EEAS - I'VE JUST SEEN A FACE (Pro-Shot, Japan, 1988)

By the way, here's some quick acoustic live footage (pro-shot) of Dave doing a GREAT job with The Beatles' classic I'VE JUST SEEN A FACE, filmed during the SKYSCRAPER tour in Japan (1988):

I just really dig this performance with the '88 line-up of the EEAS Band. Great quality too!

Default Steve Vai/Nuno Bettencourt - Yankee Rose (Lucky Strike, Hollywood, CA, January 2017)

    One more really cool clip...

Steve Vai joins Nuno, playing a gig in January 2017 at a bowling alley called Lucky Strike (also a rock club) in Hollywood...January 2017:

These dudes like playing this material!
