This is a VAN HALEN website, I got the VH 1984 cassette new... . I am an old geezer now. I was just an early adopter of some of the more modern baseball practices and thinking in the 90s and 00s....... haha......

These players who throw really hard and then have those nasty breaking pitches put a lot of strain on their arms. And guys just didnít throw like that back then. A few guys did but not very many. And most of them didnít use the same techniques to throw the breaking stuff that they do now.

And like AP said there were tons of guys who just retired with arm trouble that you never heard from again.
I'm glad he didn't retire before the 1966 world series . Drysdale too.

Unless Iím wrong Koufax allowed one earned run. Isnít that the series the Dodgers couldnít hit or something?

Iím pretty confident that Drysdale and Koufax arenít the reasons the Dodgers didnít win.

The 1966 World Series between the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers holds the record for the lowest number of runs scored by any team in a World Series, with the Dodgers only scoring two runs over the course of the series. The Orioles swept the series in four games.

We actually got let out of school early so we could all go home to watch. No night games back then . If you couldn't go home the school had tvs on stands in the gym.

Jim Palmer won his game and became the youngest pitcher still to ever win a world series game at 20 years old. A complete game shut out.

Yeah, In the 4 games in the 1966 WS, the Dodgers scored 2, 0, 0, 0 runs. They didn't hit at all.

Drysdale did get hit hard in game 1. Dodgers had 6 errors in Game 2, Kofax gave up 3 unearned runs. Game 3, Osteen pitched well, but Dodgers got Shutout. Game 4, same deal, Drysdale pitched well, but Dodgers got shutout.

The Say Hey Kid" won two Most Valuable Player awards -- 11 years apart. He hit 660 home runs -- still sixth on MLB's all-time list. He's a member of the elite 3,000-hit club with 3,283, and boasted a lifetime batting average of .302. Mays was the first player to hit 300 homers and steal 300 bases (338 total).
    Not bad for a geezer.

Rip Willie by all accounts he was a great guy. I can't think of anyone hating on him during his playing days. Everyone is headed to the clubhouse.

So the Dodgers scored seven runs in the ninth to beat the Rockies tonight. I was watching the highlights and I really feel bad for Colorado. They donít even have fans there. Literally the entire stadium was Dodger fans. Now I know a lot of Californians have moved to Colorado, but it looked like a home game.

    I mean, look at this.

Wow, that crowd has to be more than 50% Dodgers fans.

Not sure how a guy can throw 98 mph and have a 7.81 ERA coming out of the pen and have people hitting .307 against him.

RIP Willie Mays. Definitely an MLB "Mount Rushmore" player, IMO.

Another player whose stats could've been even more impressive if not for his military service.
