They weren’t going to sweep them. They’ll bounce back.

I think the Dodgers have had a pretty rough stretch if you think about it. They’ve played two elimination games in the last week. Friday’s game was probably one of the most difficult games the Dodgers have played in years. That game was a war. Then you get one day’s rest and have to play Sunday in the NLCS. And they played well. And 15 hours later you’re playing a second game. I think the Dodgers have been way more drained than the Mets.

The Dodgers literally haven’t had one second to breathe yet. It was bound to catch up with them at some point. The Mets had several days off. Not to mention the mental side of beating the Padres. That hurdle was much different than the Mets closing out the Phillies, who honestly aren’t as good as the Padres anyway.

I didn’t think the pitching was that horrible today. The offense was really awful and that’s why they didn’t pull it out. Yes Knack got himself into trouble and then threw that one bad pitch and that pretty much cost them the game. But they were able to rally behind it and stay in the game. They just couldn’t get a big hit. I don’t know how many times Kike came up with a chance to tie or put the Dodgers ahead and just couldn’t do it. But he himself left a small village on the base paths.

Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

Rodon was sharp. Man, Cleveland was swinging at some bad pitches. Granted, Rodon's slider was on last night and he got a lot of whiffs. But he even threw his fastball in the dirt and got some swing and misses.

Thanks to Cleveland for helping out with the 5 wild pitches--ties a record--and all the walks. Yankees have walked 34 times in 5 playoff games.

Judge is still struggling. He hit a few on the screws but the home plate umps haven't been great (to both teams) and basically took him out of one at bat with bad calls.
But just like the Royals series, Yanks had 2 on and no out in the first inning and couldn't score. That's the 3rd time that's happened this postseason--5 games.

Nice to see Stanton delivering though.

The Mets also have the Dodgers most those men on base opportunities.

They misplayed balls several times in one inning.

Weird they were playing during the day like that. Strange time for NLCS

That was horrible scheduling, especially for a west coast game.

Friday they play at 5 EST, but they're in NY.

I was shocked that they played the game so early. Obviously too bright to do anything comfortably. The Dodgers probably would have won had it been a night game. As Brett said, they weren't sweeping the Mets so now it gets interesting!

I think had it been a night game the Dodgers would have played better.

But the Yankees got the primetime slot. That’s probably the only team that would ever get a primetime slot over the Dodgers.

But yeah, it was never going to be a sweep. The Mets are a good team.

I hope that 2-run HR opens the floodgate for Judge.

Judge with a HR, Torres getting hits and a strong bullpen outing gives NYY a 2-0 series lead.

Happy with the win, obviously, and Judge finally connecting for one.
But they could have and should have scored more! Chisholm and Rizzo with base-running blunders in the same inning.
Once again, Yanks get the first two guys on base in the 1st inning and Cleveland should have gotten out of it if not for a dropped infield pop fly--something we rarely see, let alone by a gold glove caliber SS. Thanks to him, Yanks scored in the 1st inning.

Cole cruised for a few innings then started losing it. This time it was the Yankees who allowed more walks.

Time to drop Wells in the order. I'd swap him with Rizzo at this point--if Boone must have R, L, R.

    On to Cleveland.

Guess Cleveland's just going to roll over. I'm sure hometown boy LeBron is please since he's rooting for the other team. The rich will get richer and there'll be a whole new generation of fans that will never step foot in the Bronx and probably can't even find it on a map and yet will root for that team
