He also cleaned up his physical appearance by then. I could see Dave in 2003 encountering full blown unrepentant alcoholic Ed with samurai hair, missing/discolored teeth, and boots with his toes sticking out and wanting no part of that.
Yeah, they did no such thing lol. And you just revealed what it is that allows some fanboys to draw degrees in addiction. Because Ed looked marginally better in appearance. That means very little.

Also worthy of note...in both 2004 and 2007, there were such things in play as tour insurance. Standard Live Nation protocol. Bottom line, if Dave or Sam or Alex wanted to pull the plug, they could have.

Yes, it was as bad in early 2008 when Ed fell off the wagon again, which is why the tour stopped. It was not as bad in late 2007 when the tour started. You are misrepresenting my argument.

He was never great on that tour. He was good enough in the beginning. Then clearly he was not well and went to rehab in the middle. After that, he seemed better.

I don’t know how much more fair I can get.

Having seen one of the early 07 dates, I can confirm he was nowhere near sobriety.

You always know when you’re dealing with folks who don’t understand addiction. It’s not a grey area. Either someone is sober or they aren’t. Alcoholics aren’t “lesser” alcoholics just cause they can hold down a job.

Hey guys, Regarding Al and Sammy. Take a look at it's about time from some guy who is not liked. Sure seems to me that Al and Sam where tighter then Ed and Sam. Something went down AFTER this. It could be the book, but it is NOT Cabo Wabo money stuff.

I wish the people who interviewed Alex recently asked him about it. We will never know the real answer until Alex says what his problem with Sammy is.

I think it's the book. I don't believe Al will ever forgive Sam for writing that book and talking about his brother the way that he did. Doesn't matter if it was true or not, Al will never forgive him.

I believe my OKC date was the first show in January 08. Edward had gauze on his hand at the OKC show but I thought he was good.

Wasn't the last show in 07 a little rough?

I saw them on 10/14/07. Ed was on point that night. The two stars of that tour were Dave and Al.

It was definitely the book. Al likely read it and said that m*th$*f**ker. Notice Gary in that interview in the other thread treats the VH brothers with respect unlike Sammy who does not know when to shut the f**k up.

Again with fucking Gary Cherone who was in the band for 30 fucking seconds. Like he has any reason to be angry about anything. He had the gig of a lifetime.

My subjective opinion is that it was much more than the book. Valerie and Monk’s books were just as bad if not worse regarding Ed’s lifestyle and choices he made. Hell, Al’s book even suggests he’s ok with Monk. I think a lot of it was that the Van Halen’s believed Sam prospered BECAUSE of the Van Halen moniker.
