Usually, in the past, Montrose debut bashing was a direct result of overall Sam bashing by proponents of Sam v Dave. It's nice to finally see all the recognition for this seminal great 70's rock album that Ed was a fan of. That Ed covered in clubs, and that Ed was influenced by. Must have been a big album.

Or, people can like Sam, and not like Montrose.

The Montrose debut was ahead of its time, there were few American bands playing this style of music at the time. It wasn't a commercial success, so it's understandable some people had never heard about it. I discovered it when Sam joined VH and have liked it ever since.

Iron Maiden is a big fan of Montrose, recording several covers of their songs.

Being from the BA, I wanna say I knew the name Montrose, but it was Sam joining VH that made me aware of them. I didn't know the album except 2 songs that were played on classic rock stations. Rock The Nation and Space Station. I would hear a young sounding Sam and realize, "Oh, ok...this must be that Montrose."

I knew of Montrose before Sammy joined. Didn't like it because it was in some manners the tail end of Boomer rock. Wasn't into it. I knew Sammy solo too but outside of 55, it was in the same genre of Loverboy, Squier, Robert Palmer, Aldo Nova, Greg Kihn, etc I know that is blasphemous with many folks but for me my fur wasn't raised by his solo work. Still today my favorite albums of his are his later ones...the one with Eddie (Never Said Goodbye) and Marching to Mars. I think he got better after meeting Eddie.

I'd rather listen to 1013 or Marching to Mars over Montrose any day of the week. Just never resonated with me. I know a lot of people love it, but just never clicked for me.

To get back on the original topic- The book Brothers by Alex Van Halen

I'm a bit late to the party and perhaps the answer is buried on page 32. I see that you can preorder the book on Amazon. However, when it comes to Vanhalenstore.com, it's not available at all.

    Why is this?

they say they're gonna open preorders closer to the release date, but that's coming up so i'm not sure what the hold up is. They are asking people to put in their email address so they can notify people when the preorders go live. I suspect they are using the email addresses to figure out how many copies to order from the publisher.

They will no doubt have him booked on the morning news shows at the very least. Probably some of the syndicated entertainment shows and probably the night time talk shows. Id be surprised if he wasn't at least on Kimmel and Colbert.

The publishers are going to require that. He probably got a nice advance and they need this to thing to sell and are going to want to push it for the Christmas season.

I'd love to see Alex with Jimmy Kimmel. They can discuss the night Dave broke his nose during a live preformance on a prior show.
