I like The Smiths and his earlier solo work.

I remember maybe 15 years or so ago, there was a Morrissey concert on AXS> The guitarist was using a Peavy Wolfgang.

I never liked Morrissey until I got a chance to see him on vacation in Vegas about 15 years ago. He was good and his band was great.

So I read the book and am avoiding the OCD urge to read all 144+ pages in this thread because probably a third of them are videos and the other half have fuck all to do with the book. I enjoyed it - light weight, but wasn’t meant really to be more than an ode to his brother. Yeah, he quoted a lot of other sources but I look at it like this - it validates what others had to say, except for the few times he said he didn’t agree. Like he said he didn’t agree with a lot of Ted’s book, but since Ted’s book was only partially about Van Halen, I’m not sure what that would be? I’m thinking maybe it was more along with not saying anything Ted said wasn’t true, just he didn’t agree with him philosophically. I hope Alex got something out of writing it.

ADKOT was Dave's concept. Great idea but the Red Baron artwork and other options were better. The ADKOT accidently copies a Commodores old album cover. It happens with creatives and ideas. It should of been caught.

Accidentally? That is almost certainly a deliberate homage.

Had AKOT been recorded in 79-83, it likely would have been in the 6 pack quality and success. As it is they did a good job covering Dave’s lack of a signing voice. And no question it succeeded compared to what other artist are selling numbers wise in the world we now live in. Would really have loved to hear would it would have been circa 1981.

Of course we would have Mike not Wolf. And I hold no grudge against Wolf. I think we skewered him unfairly for the most part. Just my opinion.

It's hardly unfair. He didn't acknowledge his predecessor until after his father had passed away. He signed off on the photoshopping in '07. If he can play bass in 20k arenas at 16, he can handle a little scrutiny in terms of what seemed an egregious lack of respect for the OG bassist.

I’ve got nothing nice to say about Wolf. He didn’t acknowledge anything ever. It took his father’s death for him to finally BARELY admit that Mike existed. And he still won’t even use Sam’s name in public. He’s a douchebag.

    Lol. That kinda sums up.

Oh, and I should’ve qualified my last post. “If he could LEARN to play in front of 20k people he could handle a little scrutiny.”

I had one interaction with hm. Holmdel NJ 2015. I was prob 15ft away near the stage and (in between songs during a Dave banter) I yelled "What's up Wolf!" and gave him some devil horns. He rolled his eyes and walked back to his Cabs shaking his head... I was like ok fuck you then... Lol

He was the ONLY musician onstage that did that when I tried to give them some love, going back to oh 1988. So yeah...

I've had legends like Ace Frehley and Yngwie Malmsteen, Marilyn Manson, Zakk Wylde - even Steve Harris throw picks to me and give me high fives when I yelled to them... And this dude rolled his eyes at me.

I don't think he has ever been appreciative to fans of VH at all.
