"Between Us Two" is supposed to be their Stairway to Heaven and still hasn't been released.

And does anyone know why I Want Some Action wasn't on the recent rarities disk??!?!

Because it's Van Halen, it's how they roll.

They left it off for a reason, but for "other bands", that is the kind of stuff that ends up on box sets and from the vault releases.

It's Good Enough with different lyrics, and if I recall that is why they stopped working on it.

I accidently liked this when I wanted to say you have to be kidding about the rarities DISC being anything more than what it was. You been here how long and made that comment? OK.

I left that in for one minute...GLAD you caught it!!

Oh, I read it. It made me laugh my absolute ass off...especially MF5146 waiting in the wings to "thank" him. Before I got my daughter up for school, I realized I had already woken her from my laughter (I felt bad, but it was time to get up).

In all seriousness, that "Rarities" debacle took some balls. For part of it, they actually just removed a couple of tracks from actual albums and moved them to the "Rarities" disc (yeah, yeah...I know...those tracks were NOT on the vinyl versions or whatever).

Has any other band ever had the balls to put out a box set, include a "Rarities" disc and then not put one single rarity on it?

The disc was called "Rarities", not "Unreleased", so it makes total sense to include what they did. With the exception of Baluchiterium (they got that on a technicality) they were all songs not generally included on initial wide release. But of course the people on this forum have heard them all.

I'd love to hear Between Us Two, but I feel like it couldn't possibly live up to the hype at this point. And I'd love a clean and complete version of Want Some Action if it exists.

Yes, that often happens with a band's outtakes. I remember hearing for years about a lost Beatles song called WHAT'S THE NEW MARY JANE. There were rumblings that it was supposed to be A DAY IN THE LIFE-caliber.

Then Beatles fans got to hear it. A DAY IN THE LIFE it ain't.

For a fan, having songs that don't fit on an album makes sense. But there were definite rumblings that the "Rarities" disc was going to feature stuff that fans had not actually heard.

Hagar said in 2022: "I don’t know if I can resurrect it (BETWEEN US TWO), but we got it, it's done. It's in the archives; they'll find it. They're looking through the archives right now to try to remaster some of the old stuff from my era. They'll find it. That's gonna be a treasure."

He also said: "It would have to go through the Van Halen camp, and it's a little dysfunctional over there. There's never been a fearless leader in the Van Halen camp. Roth was for a while. I was for a while. Then Eddie took over for a while, then Alex came in. … Now Wolfie is the fearless leader."

It could be that was what Alex was going through the archives for to put in the box set before that effort ended.

we will never hear Between Us Two unless someone who has a copy of it leaks it to the public. there's so much confusion about that song. it's not year to the day, it didn't turn into once. the music has never been used for anything.

Ed Just gave I want some action to Steve Lukather, it's kind of interesting to hear.

If Betwwen Us Two is a ballad and the title suggests that it is (correct me if I'm wrong), then I don't wanna hear it.

No more Sam Era ballads, please.

Yes. The wedding planning has been in the works for months, but the latest war of words occurred because they got into a disagreement over whether the 2nd entrée would be steak or fish...and Sam would not agree with Dave's suggestion that their first dance be an Al Jolson song.
