Post NOEL MONK Inventory Sheet & What's Leaked (...Appeared Before...Just Organized a Bit)

THIS IS NOT NEW (though I've organized it better and thrown in a bit of information based on what we know). I also wanted to take stock of what has leaked for far (not very much). (I think atomicpunk5151 posted a version of this list a while back, and possibly other posters...so I want to give credit where credit is due.)

I have zero faith in the band ever throwing some of this stuff out there for us fans to see. But it would not surprise me to see LARGO '84 just suddenly pop up on YouTube one day...and I think a lot of old-timers feel the same way. I've been good friends with a few hardcore Van Halen fans who have passed away over the years, never getting a chance to see this stuff while it sits and collects dust.

Since the Inventory Sheet was thrown out there for fans to see, we've had the Donington '84 leak and a bit more information on where/when some of this stuff comes from...but a LOT is still unknown. What strikes me is just how many pro-shot videos are listed of the original band (it seems mostly from in-house video crews)...AND the fact that Oakland may have only had THREE songs filmed...but the whole thing was professionally-recorded (which would make for a killer live album)

A few months ago, I ended up getting a full hard drive with the ENTIRE KISS collection Curt Gooch has been hoarding. The collection is insane...a shit-ton of professional footage from 1973-1997 (a lot more than the YouTube leaks from a year or two ago). I can't post any of it for now because of a promise to a buddy of mine...but I'm trying to see if I can make the same score with the Van Halen collection at some point.

Does anyone know if it is this Curt Gooch asshole who is hoarding ALL of this Van Halen stuff? Was he the one who bought all of Monk's stuff at auction?

HERE IS THE NOEL MONK INVENTORY (** Indicates That This Has Leaked to Fans):

    1. August 30, 1981: Nashville Municipal Auditorium, Nashville, Tennessee
    2. July 16, 1982: Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina

    4. May 29, 1983: US Festival, Devore, California (with TIME CODE...us fans have pretty good versions of this by now WITHOUT THE TIME CODE, though it would be nice to have the whole thing mixed in stereo) **
    5. "2 Bad Cassettes": The label on the tapes actually says this...UNKNOWN where/when this footage is from

    BETA TAPES
14 Full Tapes (No Dates or Venues Listed Concerning WHAT Is On These Tapes...These Were Listed in the Inventory As Also All Being Duplicated to 3/4")

    MULTI-TRACK and/or SOUNDBOARD AUDIO

I'd really love the '81 or '84 VHS shows or the '81 audio.

Based upon other interviews and leaks, I think we know what the "Home Movies" are, and we would have to log into YouPorn to see them.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

I'd be willing to ASK...I could lead him on and pretend I'm willing to pay serious money for the stuff.

When I got all the Gooch KISS footage (178 videos), I kept trying to ask my source if he has access to VAN HALEN stuff. But the guy he got the KISS footage from would never give him a straight answer. The only thing I learned was that he had the "master" Donington (the Telecine...this was AFTER it leaked, I think) and a folder of "other stuff" (allegedly long-form).

The Monk (Gooch, I guess) Largo tapes are the actual master tapes.

Gooch is a sorry excuse for a person. He buys the lot and then does private sales for YEARS to come to desperate fans willing to pay high-dollars for the rarest of rare videos and then he SOMEHOW enforces or convinces them to not immediately go and post or share the rare videos. I DID NOT GIVE ANY MONEY for my lot of KISS footage...I had a buddy who bought the lot and was willing to share it with me but made me promise over and over again to NOT share it...he's a good guy and I gave him my word. (I would happily screw Gooch over...but I would not screw over my friend after giving him my word.)

The real harm people like Gooch do is they could not care one iota about the fans. They let rare gold like this Van Halen footage be hoarded for years to come (maybe forever) and sell very limited quantities, somehow convincing the buyers to not share anything. Thus, fans go to their grave never seeing all sorts of awesome stuff, all so ONE GUY can make money off of it to private collectors.

I don't know this for sure (might have been Brett here or someone at the Army) who said that Gooch went CRAZY when Donington went public, threatening YouTube with all these copyright violations.

I will ask or see if I can find out what he has...but I will never give that guy my money. It's a matter of principle.

The Gooch's customers pay thousands for copies of his bootlegs so unless you're pretty well-off I seriously doubt he would even answer any contact initiated with him. He pays top $$$ for the stuff so he expects even more for his investments. It's kept him in buisness for a long time, even with lawyers always hounding him. Seems even Gene and Paul can't get rid of him!

If I had a billion dollars, I wouldn't buy shit from no motherfucker named "Gooch".

Sure as hell wouldn't be buying KISS/VH shit.

Chris, I wouldn't doubt he wants $10 grand each for any of the shows he got from Noel's wife. That's the kind of money we're talking about when it comes to The Gooch.

I’d put $500 towards a crowd fund effort for either ‘81 or ‘84 soundboard.

I'd put a ton of money towards something like Largo 1984 getting released to the fans.

But I'd never give a man like Gooch a cent. A piece of garbage like that knows he can't release this stuff legally...so he takes advantage of rich hardcore fans and sells them stuff that he doesn't own the artistic rights to (under the table). And his money-scheme only works if this stuff NEVER gets out to fans. And fans are the people who really deserve to hear this stuff.

I can't imagine having his kind of mentality. He makes bootleg companies (who sell mass amounts of copies of something for a more reasonable price...well, $40 instead of thousands) look like saints.

From Rikk's list I'd love to have this one:

March 25, 1984: Capital Centre, Landover, Maryland (Largo) (2 Tapes)

Undoutably Gooch wants $20,000 for those since there are two tapes. All joking aside, the Capital Centre camera guys always did a pretty good job. The VH show from 1982 is outstanding even with all the flaws. We're very lucky that was leaked!
