Or did another book, it’s been almost three decades since the last one.

All this stuff is just WEIRD man, you can’t even understand why he’s doing it.
It’s a bummer because we are such big fans going way back and we know from the internet bootlegs and whatnot that he definitely has quite a few unofficially released recordings that would make a great compilation of some sort. Maybe a box set or anthology package. Ideally with something live preferably video concert footage.

Some of my personal favourite most often played DLR songs are from bootlegs. The 1988 Skyscraper Tour from the European Leg in particular. He did James Brown’s song “ I’ll Go Crazy” which I think is awesome, & The Beatles “ I’ve Just Seen A Face” is pretty good too. Among others.

It’d be cool to have all the full songs in audio from the No Holds Barred Back Yard Barbecue video. There’s only short snippets of the ZZ Top “ A Fool For Your Stockings “ tune, and his version of “ Baker Street “ would be nice to have an official release. Just as a few quick examples.

He has enough odds & ends kicking around for a great compilation album.

We know album sales are a mere fraction of the old days so I can sympathize with certain artists no longer being enthusiastic about putting out new albums or archive releases but nonetheless as you stated it doesn’t stop the Whitesnake and several others with new deluxe reissue editions.

    It’s something David could do.

It would do incredible good for his legacy.

The shit is just sitting there, LOTS of it, I mean, if memory serves he even has a company for keeping track of it all called the DLR Archives.

I've said on here a lot that I think Johnny Cash's career end run is the template. Would not be anywhere near as successful of course, DLR is not Johnny Cash, but as I mentioned, would do wonders for his legacy.

Instead, we get shit about his bunny suit.

If he wants to embrace his "Clown Prince of Rock and Roll" persona, that's his right, but man, I to think it is an absolute waste of what precious little time he has left.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

These guys just don't believe in rarities, B-sides, etc.

    Maybe Darrin can convince him??

You guys want rarities and shit just sitting there?

    He doesn't even like it.

He's too old now. He ain't releasing anything in his classic vault. Do you guys realize that some artist make shit and then move on constantly.

They don't really care about OUR pleasure Sad to say, and it's not personal with them.

LOL to no one's surprise Dave is not exactly the easiest person to move on anything especially related to his craft. Artists have different views of themselves and material than fans do. For any writer the most interesting song is the next one. He doesn't think anyone wants to hear that stuff he does for himself. Hell he at times commented Yankee Rose was gimmick for its time. No dude all of your fans want to hear that and considering he tries Just Like Paradise which is totally out of his current range no reason not to. The VH stuff he can not just release on his own, that is Al's call (2 votes to 1). His basement tapes he thinks no one wants to hear. He should release them and do a storytellers tour in small venues and stream them. Not gonna happen but he will be active again.

Billy Sheehan has said on multiple occasions he has pro footage of his time with Dave that would blow us all away. But for some reason, it will never see the light of day. I wonder why?

Solo Dave and VH are in a silence competition - the one releasing the least amount of stuff wins. It's like the 80s in reverse.

I learned to swim at a place called Hayward Plunge in Hayward, CA. When I was a kid, my dad would take us there, and we'd go apeshit. Place had a unique smell that I can smell right now. Never liked the changing area, though. It was damp and old ass dudes changing into swim trunks. Now that I think about it, we could have worn our swim trunks there.

It's a solid cover by Diamond Dave. He sounds good on it.
