Satch is a good guy. Just seems like a normal dude who is a great guitar player.

I have been a huge fan of Satch since he released Surfing With The Alien back in 1987. Dude is the king of the guitar instrumental ...

Joe is Great! I’m looking forward to hearing him in the EVH Tribute gig.

Saw this on YT couple of days ago. Joe played at an art gallery back in Sept with just a Marshall and some backing tracks. The guitars he was playing look pretty cool too. I really like Joe's early stuff, including this one.

I bought that CD when it was released in 1989 and then Steve Vai's Passion And Warfare and Eric Johnson's Ah Via Musicom when they were released in 1990. Three great albums from three amazing guitar players.

I guess for the benefit of everyone—including Joe—there are unknown individuals learning VH songs note-for-note sharing with the world on YouTube.

    What does this mean?

This is quote from Joe, from that article.

"And out there in YouTube land, there are people like Jean-Michel Sutcliffe who just blow me away with how close they get."

I had never heard of the guy and went on Youtube to check him out based on Joe mentioning him.

Pretty much what I’ve said before regarding YouTube “nobodies” that share what they have learned freely to everyone. They’ve dedicated a lot of time and effort to get to the point that their playing and tone is very close to the original.

This YouTuber has lessons that can benefit anyone who watches them. Nothing more was implied.

I’m still not getting your point with all this, but ok.

Nobody is arguing that there aren’t a bunch of of bedroom players that have dedicated their lives to copying Ed’s licks note for note. Good for them.

It still doesn’t mean I would go to a concert to watch any of them play, or pay obscene money to see Jilly from Philly.

Already having to play the song with a live rhythm section, i.e. Mike & Jason Bonham, changes everything compared to playing the stuff at home.
