    Default The Electric Church Book

I stole this info from Ron at VHTrading...

    The Electric Church Book
Take a look at the musical journey of Bill “Electric” Church. His legendary bass lines will be heard forever! Now you can read the story.

I just finished it, and found it to be a good look back at Bill’s career. Of note to Sammy fans, lots of detail about his time in Montrose and the Sammy Hagar band.

Of particular note (to me) was the section about Farm Aid (1985), which backed up Bob Daitz’s telling of the story. And the part about how Sammy supposedly was trying to get Bill into Van Halen, replacing Mikey!

Copies can be ordered here: https://hauntthenation.bandcamp.com/merch
If you have nothing nice to say about Eddie Van Halen, you're at the right website. - Me (A few years ago)

"I don't sit on the end of your bed while you're trying to make a living" - David Lee Roth (1988)

"For some reason people love to complain about everything. The internet has made it easy for people to do that. Shut the fuck up and get a life, or show me how good you can do it."- Edward Van Halen

"A lot of people ask me which Van Halen singer was better. You can't compare them. It's like asking which guitarist is better. Nobody is better than anybody. Every player is their own person."-Edward Van Halen

I like the guy's playing. Solid bass player but in Main? Sam has a thread, no? Don't bite my head off. Just asking.

Yet nobody posts in Sammy's thread.

I can't believe someone really wrote a biography of Bill Church. What is the market for this?

I think it might be one of those books automatically written by Chat GPT. If not, it would take a while to write a 150 page book like that, and for what revenue? None is my guess. I just don't get it.

I might read it though, I'm part of the tiny demographic that could be interested. My guess regarding his relationship with Sam is: "1972 - 1985: Sammy rocks, we climbed the rock ladder together. Post 1985: damn you Sammy for first leaving us without warning to join VH, and then not calling me back in 1997 when you restarted your solo career, while asking David Lauser and Jesse Harms back."

I got it about 2 weeks ago, sent from Trevor his son. I supplied some pics for it.
The books ok, well set out, but very inconsistent and inaccurate. I’ve been studying Sammy’s history for years, and a few things in this book are flat out wrong.
The Farm aid ‘85 gig is enough. He’s making out that the band weren’t aware that Sammy was working with Eddie, and when Eddie showed up backstage, it caused tension. I’ve got a few magazines from ‘85/‘86 where Sammy made it clear to the band that he had joined VH, even though it wasn’t official in the press yet.

Yeah, but you have to take anything Sammy says with a grain of salt... A very small grain of salt.

True. The whole flashing thing before Kiss in ‘77 was all BS for a start.

I love rock biographies so I'll probably pick this up if I can find it.

Too much a nice guy and doesn’t want to dig dirt or bring up the past.

I have a few of Martin Popoff's books. He often includes photos that are very rare which is what I like best. But a lot of his stuff is very hard to find. Seems once he sells a certain amount of titles, that's it.

No book about Billy Sheehan or Stu Hamm, but a book about Bill Church. Ok, then.

Mike was asked in an interview not long ago about doing a bio and he said he might do one at some point, but he doesn’t know what angle he wants to take yet. He doesn’t want to just unleash a bunch of dirt because that’s not his thing. But he said he might do it at some point.

Maybe the massive success of Geddy Lee's book will inspire him. Geddy Lee is actually SELLING out 2000 seat theaters in various cities just to do Q&A with various interviewers about his book! In LA, tickets were $91 - not for a show. Just to hear Geddy present his book (which is excellent). Jack Black was the host, asking him questions. Paul Rudd was the host in NYC.

MA won’t talk shit about Sammy and won’t talk shit about Eddie since he is dead.

He could clear up some of the vocalists departures.

Then again he may not even really know
